This is stupid. You could twist this either way: if you dislike something and it's getting translated, it's baby garbage, but if you like it, it's getting the attention it deserves.
As for discussion on /a/, I don't know about you, but I don't hate everyone else on this board. If a light novel is getting attention here, I often try it out and formulate my own opinions on it. I also do my own looking around, but why would I ever assume it's bad because it's popular enough to be talked about here?

This happened with my friend too. Last year before he studied at Todai i continue mocking him for not being able to read any hiragana. Now hisfacebook statusis full of Kanjis. Also apparently todai student was smart enough to use English.
