That's one of the many reasons I was expecting more form S2. Some things make more sense once you see them animated/expanded upon in the Anime.
For example, that last scene when Miku calls Shidou "Daaaarling~" at the end of the concert was improved in the Anime very well. In the LN all that happened was Shidou quietly leaving the place were in the Anime hilarity ensued as the girls cornered Shidou on the spot.
This little change may not seem like much but IMHO it greatly adds to the whole. The staff did have some ideas but unfortunately they got stuck with a much minor budget and couldn't deliver. Sad really.
