Excluding things like Gundam, is Digimon Adventure the best children's marketing show?
I've watched more than my fair share of kids shows and I just don't think any of them come close to Adventure's level of character building, storyline and being accessible to people of all ages than it. Maybe Tamers and Heartcatch Precure got close.
I just think that it does pretty much everything perfectly. It has it's share of flaws but it does so much else right that it's hard for me to consider anything else above it
And on that note, why are Digimon girls so great?

It's the purest SOL I've ever seen.
It was considered good because it was about a subject matter that the vast majority of anime fans are interested in: How anime is made. The characters are very endearing and we root for them during the hard times and share their relief when they get out of it okay.
Plus I think that many found it refreshing to see a SoL that wasn't set in a highschool for a change. Not that those types of shows are bad, but it's fun to see a different setting now and then.

This. As much as i like a comfy highschool SoL, i think that most people here on /a/ are already out of school and it's nice seeing a SoL with adult characters.
