She got a bad rep since she was never a fighter & due her damsel in distress role in Hueco Mundo. But is that really a bad thing?
Orihime was actually a well written character. She wasn't a perfect Mary Sue. She had character flaws, which made her more human & believable. She didn't fight because she was weak but because she was a pacifist to a fault in that she was even willing to heal her enemies. This acted as a double edged sword since it ended up granting her the most powerful healing abilities in the entire series to the point that she could even bring back the dead.
The only time she really faltered was when Ichigo was nearly killed by Ulquiorra & she was in a state of shock, panic & horror. So many people bashed her character during this scene, but can you really blame her? She was just a scared little girl, terrified that the guy she loved had just been brutally murdered (presumably) by a monster, desperately crying for help.
After that though during the timeskip when Ichigo lost his powers, she vows to get stronger for his sake and even adopts a counteroffensive fighting style which she demonstrates against Ginjo. This shows great character development on her part in that she recognized her flaws in that she needed to show more determination to help her friends.
This finally cultiminated in the Thousand Year Blood War Arc where she fought at her friends side through the most important battles & Ichigo even acknowledged that he needed her help the most in fighting against Yhwach with her ultimate defensive abilities. Finally, she was even able to do the impossible & fix Ichigo's broken bankai (with Tsushima's help, but still) & allow him to defeat Yhwach.
Orihime was flawed but sought to better herself for her friends sake, especially for Ichigo. Ichigo recognized this & finally realized how much Orihime truly cared about him, & that's why he realized how much he loved her too, resulting in them being happily married.
Plus she's sexy and cute.
