So in this case, Cat while being the main heroine will surely fade into irrelevancy down the line and there will be obvious signs that point to Ox winning the rat bowl.

Depending on how Japanese this series is, it will be either a major plot point/twist about how the humans are really the evil ones(or just not different than the monsters), or more likely just another instance of standard Japanese internalized xenophobia where everything not human(with humans being a stand-in for the Japanese) is treated as animals with completely straight face and absolutely no clue as to why it might be bad.
