I like to see the second half of the story as the MC growing up, coming to terms with his past and accepting his new life, so I am glad he moved on and stayed with Aya. That being said the second-to-last chapter, the one with the dream, offers different interpretations: according to some it could mean the MC starts pursuing "madness" again; it's still puzzling me.
