This show was surprisingly enjoyable. Disappointed I dropped it when Kaitou did and missed out on the threads. It had some awkward scenes at times, ps1 CG, and suffered from some one-note characters but overall I thought it was pretty great. It's even got a second season coming and a game, anyone else excited? How was it received during it's airing? I'm sure a lot of people made fun of it.

It had a prime time TV slot--I don't think BD sales were the goal but it was around 3/4k. Ended up with a lot of boosted sales for Arakawa's manga too, so I guess it worked out.
The threads were pretty decent despite not lasting too long or having all that much activity. Looking forward to S2 though.

Why is this show so good and why will it almost certainly fail to garner an audience? Let's run down the list: no lolis? check. No mechs? check. No lazers shoot shoot bang bang? check. No magic or monsters? check. No whiny highschool brats running around trying to get laid? check.
Hard as it is to imagine, particularly in this anime season overflowing with crap, there exists this one show with actual well written characters, a nice looking aesthetic, and an interesting storyline about an interesting topic. So what's the general opinion of this show on /a/?
