Since Avvenire is a logical sequel to Origination, I'd say, watch that first.
This second OVA fixes the biggest fault of the anime so far: the omission of the wonderful final Caith Sith manga chapter. Been waiting for that since the end of Origination.

I went into this thinking it was old Gainax just having fun, like an older sort of Gurren Lagann thing in terms of tone. There's cute girls in tights all over, great boob physics, giant robots doing pushups. Real feel-good vibe.
