NVM It was the fact that I had no camera in the scene that did this...

Already see you found your solution but as a general comment; Artifacts like these are caused by 'Z-fighting' where the engine can't decide what is in front of what.
When you see this occurring the typical culprits are either scene scale, that your object is either too large or too small, or that the clipping plane settings of your view/camera are messed up.

Someone was having problems with 3ds models before. I'd stay away from them until you learn how to use them properly
