Why would you need a book for that? They get outdated almost immediately and there is never any reason to re-read them.
Can people upload these ebooks somewhere so that others can have them too (if possible)?

The fundamentals of 3d modeling is also the fundamentals of sculpting, which very closely relates to the fundamentals of drawing.
Work on drawing shapes, then sculpting shapes, then you will be able to model shapes in 3d with ease.
What program you happen to be using is inconsequential in the long run, it`s all about the fundamental artistic skills in the end.
The programs will always quickly change throughout the years, but the fundamentals will remain.

the art of moving points is nice, but only available on apple products. there's a pdf version around but not as nice as the app.

Yeah the alternative is not wasting your time learning anatomy before you know what to do with it.
Anatomy is an advanced subject for artists who've already mastered figure.

Have you tried the app? The few i've seen seems very nice. I have to agree on the pdf though, but it is not distributed officially and merely a way to compensate for people who don't have an ipad

Again, rigging on meshes using this method, it's a great approach to facial topology imho
