Hey, guys. I hacked my 3DS waayyy back when it was a new thing. I downgraded to 9.something, and I'm running RXtools and installing .cias with FBI. Haven't bothered to read up on advancements in the scene for a while.
I'm anxiously awaiting MHGen, but I'm having issues with the demo and it's making me concerned that I won't be able to run the game when it does leak.
The .cias I install of the demo all hang at the 3ds logo. The solution everyone posts online is "lol just go to the eshop and it'll fix it," which doesn't make sense to me but whatever - except the eshop wants me to update which seems like a terrible idea. I found and downloaded freeshop which won't work either, apparently because my firmware is too low.
My understanding is that, since I have an unlinked sysnand and emunand, I should be able to just update my emunand like normal. But I'm not sure if this is the right course of action; I don't remember every step I took when hacking the thing, and however I set it up causes the entire device to reset if I tell rxtools to boot into sysnand (booting into emunand loads up the menu and works still). Just wondering if anyone knows the best course of action to get me back up to speed with how stuff works now so that I can keep playing new dumps?
For the record, I'm on a n3DS and can run MHX + Eng patch fine, along with other "cryptofixed" roms I've installed, but not the MHGen demo for whatever reason, cryptofixed or not.

For a complete collection you should use an emulator. There's a hard limit of 300 maximum installed titles, so you'll cap that before you've even got a fraction of the games installed.

rxTools is a CFW.
Luma is a better CFW.
a9lh is the most advanced entry point for CFW. It works at boot time (like Menuhax) but before any other parts of the firmware so it can survive system updates. This is why a9lh + Luma setups typically run on an updated sysnand.

rxTools is a CFW, yes. It's deprecated now, though, all the developers have abandoned it. You should switch to something else when you get the chance.
a9lhax is an exploit, it's used to start CFW instantly at boot, Plailect's guide walks you through setting it up.
Luma is another CFW, and currently the recommended one, since it's usually the most up to date for new features, and generally the most actively maintained.

It's possible whenever someone releases a PSP game exploit for the current firmware. Sony usually releases an update a couple of weeks later to patch it out, though. Afaik there haven't been any game exploits for 3.60.

I did what you're doing about 2 hours ago or so. It worked for me, the only problem was that it was liable to crash sometimes and I'd have to restart and try again. The actual process of doing the time and date, rushing to "delete saved data" in the browser, then going to the URL? That worked fine.

That's what plailect says. It makes it seem like you can open the browser, you just can't go to any urls.
In my case, I can't open the browser at all. I click on the browser and I'm instantly sent to agree to terms.
That tiny detail is what's making me think that maybe the terms I'm getting are not the ones that will update the firmware. When you set up your wifi, did it ask you to agree to terms? Did you? I declined them when setting up my wifi, so maybe that's my problem.

Just accept them, the ones for updating the system are different (it's the ones saying "any modifications made may be removed etc etc". You don't update the system through the browser in any case.
Also, that little detail in the guide's technically incorrect, which bothers me a lot more than it should. Nintendo has to manually block browser versions, you can open the browser on any unblocked version. This is going to be relevant when 10.6+ Browserhax comes around, 10.7 fixed the bypass but isn't currently blocked so there'll be a time limit for Browserhax'ing that version.

How badly did i fuck up /hbg/
i tried copying and pasting the data from my 16 gb sd card to a 32 gb sd card.
i can boot into homebrew launcher but i cant run Luma
now for some reason my old sd card has become write protected and I cant put in minipasta and emunand9 to do the copying via the 3ds.
what do i do? i have a o3ds at 9.2

Fuck, I just dug my 3DS out after years of not using it, did up to halfway through step 4, then the light went red. I then realised I have no idea where the charger is. Fuck. So now I have to just leave it until I can buy a charger - but I only about about £1.80 in the whole world.

You're using Fbi right? It gives you the option to install and delete, which you should do. No point keeping the cia once you're done with it.

That guide honestly seems super outdated. I suggest using Decrypt9WIP for xorpad generation (and gamecart dumping) instead: https://github.com/d0k3/Decrypt9WIP/releases
It can also decrypt stuff directly, but I don't know what kind of shit the Fates patcher supports. Xorpads as a whole are considered outdated at this point, but a lot of shitty tools can't handle decrypted files properly.

Press SELECT to unmount the SD card and B to remount it. This will ensure EmuNAND9 can see your EmuNAND after swapping SD cards

The app doesn't change your 3ds's region. It just simplifies the process used by luma for region emulation to fix the few out of region games that don't run.

It's not actually DLC, it's part of an update, just having version 2.0 or so should be enough. You unlock it after beating the game and there's a cheat code to instant-unlock it somewhere too (I don't know the 3DS version).
