I had 12 units left as the dwarves, my lord alive, and I was running everyone towards the capture point of a city. The greenskins had maybe 4 or 5 units left, all about to die with less than 10% leadership or whatever the white bar is. Most of them are still on the walls of the city. Suddenly my whole army starts routing and I lose with a numerical advantage vs the greenskins, with no enemies near me.

An event, you choose which ork god is superior. The rewards are effectively identical.

It's probably part of a running gag, the orcs (and space orks) have trouble telling which one is which. It's pretty common to read some variation on "He was blessed by Gork! (Or possibly Mork.)

The game Gorkamorka is about a bunch of orks who crash landed on a desert world, gathering the scrap from the wreckage to build a machine to fly/teleport/walk whatever off the planet and back into the WAAAGH!!!

Eventually it started looking like one of their gods and the backdrop of the game is the civil war that broke out when they tried to decide which one.

Really solid troops, and they have enough that they can handle all that shit. The sicilian invasion is inevitable(historically accurate as well). And as long as you know that's coming you can pretty much just concentrate on the muslims. Defending sieges in M2 is incredibly easy anyway. Eventually Hungary will attack as well probably.
Whether or not Venice attacks seems to be dependent on Milan and other factors but is similar to sicily.

If you want easy mode give the Moors a try. They're strong and fun. Their units fall off later on though.

40K has never come close to having a game as good as TotalWarhammer, and they won't until Creative Assembly gets around to it. All the RTS's for that series so far have been sub par and down right awful at times. To add more damning words to it, they just haven't been very good in much of anything.

Fans are starved for quality Warhammer content and I'm happy how this game turned out. I'm not lying or gloating when I tell you I have only bought two games this year for full price and this is the better of the two.

France is harder than they appear, they usually have to fight on multiple fronts. Also, while you cavalry is indeed 'the best' it isn't the best by too large a margin unfortunately. It is also super late game.
I usually play the other side of the channel which plays a lot more obviously, but I suppose as France you probably want to fuck up England first. Or fuck with the Spanish factions in hope that it gives the Moors the edge over them(moors always start out the best in the first engagement but SS spain usually ends up winning). Then you can crusade against the Moors with no papal brakes.

If you want super heavy shit and don't mind playing from a later start date I'd recommend the Teutonic Order, they have very nice models and a more interesting(in my opinion) campaign.

Poland early is pretty nice too. They have great cavalry as well, and I think some mounted archers. Not the strongest but still very good.
What's especially nice is that I assume some Polaboo modded a lot of models, and SS attached them to Poland. They're one of the best looking factions in the mod.

Maybe you're using them wrong. Chariots have a high charge bonus but low atk or armor pen. That means you are only supposed to use them to charge at unarmored & unshield units, then back away and repeat.

A charge bonus is a temporary increase to atk damage for a few seconds. I'm of the mind that any unit with a speed above 40 can be used as a charging/flanking unit.

Again, early on not many factions have particularly defining units. As England you have good infantry as well as archers, so you can typically hold against their charges. Battles will always be fairly simple in early western europe medieval battles.
The issue is the campaign.
You'll want to secure the British Islands first. You may piss off the pope when you beat up scotland. You can deal with that a few ways.
Other than that, make sure you fortify Normandy. France WILL attack you for it. No matter how good allies you are.
Also Norway will try and attack you every now and then on and off, if you keep a couple of cogs floating up in the north sea you see them coming.

There is an image posted around here regarding an English playthrough of Medieval 2. It's pretty accurate but I don't have it on hand.

There's a number of conditions to papal favour, you ideally want the pope to like you more than the lad you're fighting of course. But the pope primarily acts against the utter destruction of factions.
Which generally translates to him telling the bigger(more provinces) faction to stop attacking the smaller faction.
You can just wait out the mission he issues against attacking the target usually. And when you are unrestricted you'll want to include siege in your army to blitz down a province in a single turn, before the pope can warn you.

Alternatively you can just tell the pope to go fuck himself, though christian europe don't much care for that.

Each of your infantry units can spawn magical ladders, so you can flood the wall fairly quickly without siege towers. Of course you'll take more losses on the walls then, but it's a measured risk. And the towers are AI controlled(I think, I forget if a player can command them; but that'd only apply for you or an opponent in multiplayer anyway), so you can screen your siege equipment with trash units quite easily.

Overall the towers are pretty crazy and you hemorrhage far too many units.

Abusing autoresolve has always been the best way to win on the campaign map. You can always do better than the AI in even battles, but if autoresolve says you'll crush them, autoresolve gives you hardly any casualties. It's especially noticable in sieges.
If you, with a full stack attack a city with a hypothetical garrison of four trash units manning four towers on the battle map, you'll lose like 150 men to the towers and 50 before you cut down the enemy trash. If you autoresolve you lose less men than a single tower can kill in like thirty seconds.

Wood Elves have a few qts in their units and a unit of qt elites. And one of their better ideas for a lord is a pair of twin qts.

High elf levy units have a few qts in them. They also have a few qt named characters but they're all worse than the men.

Dark elves have the big milf and some lewd qt units.

No, because the starting Altdorf garrison will fend off almost any early game stack in a siege.

I've actually tested this in custom games (hiding my lord off in a corner of the map), giving the orcs 20 units (which they rarely build up to) and even given the orcs some advantages like some Big 'Uns, which they won't have. Not to mention they won't have 6 towers and a battering ram in the campaign, unless you let them siege for more than 5 turns.

It's a very easy fight to win. Just keep your reiksguard in the centre to clear up enemies who rout into town (the stupidest mechanic).

How would you implement skaven? The way I see it as far as skaven are concerned is that they could go for a rather interesting route and add a second layer to the campaign map, so its a button that you push and it transitions you to that layer. They could potentially replace the underway travel mode so that it simply transitions to this layer and there's some sort of ghost image or indicator as to where your forces can emerge. It would certainty add a lot more tactical depth for the greenskins, dwarfs, and skaven. I would also make the skaven a "horde" faction. They do in fact have cities but you never control them, and completely unique to them you don't actually build any structures. Yes there are skaven cities but you don't actually control them and you have no money ever. No trading, no taxes, to upkeep. In order to recruit new units you have to complete missions and tasks for the council of 13. When you do this you get allocated certain troops based on what clans and council members you helped. Then sort of like in medieval 2 where you could recruit 3 units and then had to wait a few turns, its sort of like that but you can only recruit what they give you and its completely free and instant, essentially raising like with the VC but with no cost associated. And to stop you from being able to do whatever the fuck you want wherever the fuck you are with no consequences you suffer massive attrition and desertion you venture away from objectives like with crusading armies in medieval 2. They would also have a mechanic like with the greenskin fightiness only instead of attrition if it reaches zero you must fight off a certain portion of your army that turns against you sensing you as weak. Only the most elite units (stormvermin, rat ogres because they're too stupid to know any better) won't betray you. Cont. in next post

Rather than a separate layer to the campaign map, which would be fairly unnecessary, they just need to expand on the underway a bit more, maybe cut out part of the terrain displayed when you select a unit moving in the underway stance.

They also should have agents that spread plague.

They do need to have to be able to build buildings though, the big clans are massive builders. Probably replace money with warpstone or whatever it's called now, maintenance and building would be done by skavenslaves, but they're so perpetually numerous, trading for them with warpstone is the best idea. It's another reason buildings and development is important, a lot of clans became powerful by going literally nowhere and finding a ton of warpstone.

Take it slow. The Empire is almost unique in that they can advance as slowly as they like. If you're having problems, then take Grunburg and sit on it. Develop Altdorf and Grunburg to the point where you can support two full armies. It'll only take 15 or so turns. Then unite Reikland in about two turns with your doomstacks.

Alternatively, do my strat. Build up a second army at the same time as Karl's, and have them sit on Grunburg while Karl unites Reikland.

You can also keep a certain number of regular units by intimidating the packmasters, whether this requires another mechanic or its simply assigned like you would say the immortalz flag I don't know. These units would always be loyal and in battle would have a passive inspire to nearby troops.

They also have a special inspire ability where all units become temporarily immune to fear, terror, and moral loss but it requires sacrificing a portion of the unit and is drawn from the winds of magic and the power of the ability is determined by the level of the unit. So sacrificing slaves does absolutely nothing but waste magic, where as sacrificing stormvermin makes it last a decent amount of time, and sacrificing a hero makes it last a long time. This ability can only be cast by lords and legendary lords.

Your "allies" will be given the same objective as you so expect to haul ass if you don't want them stealing your glory. And if your "favor" reaches 0 like the gudge mechanic your going to be ded because the entire of skavendome will declare war on your ass and you don't get diplomacy.

What if you controlled a single city throughout the whole game and unlocked new technology through "stealing" from other factions. They are like quest battles and the higher it is the harder they are to get. And because skaven are dicks you don't actually get to bring your army. You only get to bring what you're given. So fluff wise if you lose you can think of it as those treacherous fools replaced your stormvermin with common clanrats. Buildings and units are unlocked by completing missions for the council of 13. So instead of quest battles giving you gear they give you new units and buildings.

You don't actually get new equipment for your legendary lords, only building and unit unlocks. So your characters don't get more powerful, only the number of armies and soldiers. Forcing you to rely on overwhelming numbers since all but your LL will got shit on in battle

I committed the 10 turns because I couldn't attack them because in their walls they were way too strong, but we were also too strong their two armies couldn't stand against us in a non-siege battle. If attrition set in earlier they'd be killed in half the time and it'd be way too easy to win siege battles.

This. Personally I like DeI's system for Rome 2 where both Attacker and Defender suffer attrition in sieges. Attrition should start right from the first turn and should be about 5% per turn. This would require attackers to bring up reinforcements if they intend to wait it out and would actually make the 'Attrition Reduction' skill in the Warrior Priest's tree somewhat useful.

The second is generally better.

The Empire Secessionists have a habit of having everyone declare war on them, many of whom will grab their land.

Note that this isn't necessarily a bad thing. If Bastonne or Marienburg take a town, and your army is in range to counter-attack before they rebuild the garrison to full strength, then you can declare war and crush their main force, allowing you to quickly seize some other territories while they recover.
