So with the Moeshit Cup done what was the thoughts on its ruleset? I unfortunately missed most of it due tobirthday celebrations.
From what I've seen it appears that the games are a bit too slurpy but otherwise okay. I'd like to know more from people who either watched a good chunk of it or were managing and testing with this format.
Also the horses did a thing but I don't even know what settings they were running and only showed up in the chat to profess my love for Tony when I heard he was commentating.

It was extremely slurpy, but I'm glad we had this so we know what the other end of the goal spectrum feels like, and in my opinion, it felt worse - and so, leaning towards more goals rather than less goals in decisions I believe would be the best way. The cup isn't about tactics circlejerking, and many people who aren't fans of football in real life watch this because it's not as slurpy as real life ball, and because anyone can appreciate a beautiful goal, but not everyone can appreciate the defensive arrangements, the offensive lines, and so on. Priority of entertainment should come over priority of testing ease.
I feel the boring play / lack of goals was due to the stat compression more than anything else - only a 10 rating difference between the golds and bronzes meant that there were less moments of magic offensively, and defenders could much more readily stop attacks by themselves. With relatively less stats compression, like what will be used in the /ag/L, I think it could turn out nicely under 1.04+Harlock.
In terms of testing, I didn't do much at all, so I can't speak to the consistency of results. But I did notice that quite a lot of spaghetti happened during the games. Not from defenders, but just general weird happenings, like physics defects and unfortunate bounces and deflections. That seems to me a property of 1.04, or Harlock.
With managing, I felt it was extremely strong. Setting out with memes did not get /myteam/ far at all, unless it faced memes in response. The changes that I did in live-management that I thought were good, significantly changed how the team played and it felt like I was much more in control than live-managing under current rules. The changes I did for memes, turned out completely horribly. This part worked very well in my opinion, and that was due to the closeness of the stats compression meaning that tactics were much more important and decisive.
TL;DR: The /ag/ League should fix everything.

The stat compression was awful. It felt like the teams were 4 silvers, no real stand out gold medal play. Defense was improved but at the cost of offense/midfield playing like ass. As for the actual games, keepers still have their AI fuck ups, but the weaker shots led to some okay saves and live managing and tactical changes felt like they actually did something. PESing still happens since you literally cannot stop that, but it's much less apparent as the only real game where that happened was /kinmoza/-/yryr/.
I guess while it was an improvement to Spring and VGL6, it isn't the best we can do. I still think /ag/L settings will shake things up a bit so as far as future changes go, we try to achieve a middle ground between Moeshit and AGL.
Also manlet abuse can be abused hard in other formations, so I'm not sold on that.

First of all, I'd like to thank all the /d/eviants who voted. We had a record turnout this time around, with 60 total votes and 33 useable! (You'd be surprise at how even a board like /d/ gets those who refuse verification or spam MONOEYES in every answer). Compared to a usual overall of 25/19, this time around was a smashing success!
And now, the roster for the 2016 Summer /d/ team!
While most of the ones who didn't make the cut were reserve players added in, we will be saying goodbye to a few long-time players. Notably, Stoic Orc, Shortstacks, InCase, and Faye Artemis will be leaving the team. They've served us well, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors. In their place, however, are the exciting newcomers Genderswap, /d/ Games Thread, Cock Sock, and Cuteanari! We're looking foward to seeing these players attempt to and succeed at proving their worth!
Of course, losing a silver means someone has to take their place, and in a close race Succubus barely beat out H*nd H*lding. Succubus has been here for years, and worked as a GK and defenseman before finally earning a medal position that, in my opinion, is richly deserved.
Speaking of GKs, H*nd H*lding and Tentacles will switch between First and Second choices once again, with Tentacles becoming the main keeper. Taking up Stoic Orc's vacancy will be Milking, a former defenseman.

/mlp/ had its meme tournament this weekend.

Standard player rules (77/88/99 GGSS etc)
Orange conditions, no subs, emotions off
It was a minor league with six teams. Five games per team for a total of fifteen games.
We had a good distribution of defensive and offensive formations, and defensive/offensive tactics.
There was an average of 4.333~ goals per match, keeper efficiency was on average at 50% (saves vs. shots on target). [Pic related] for much more stats.
In my opinion PES16 1.04 is great, and extra measures aren't really necessary. On solid teams with non-meme tactics, keepers and defenders are capable of handling the offense well enough. Gold medals are still fun to watch, but aren't broken like they were in Winter/Spring. Even when orange conditions/no subs should technically be an advantage for medals.

The difference is the setup. The /vg/ league is not a serious tournament. The data you get from such tournaments isn't worth anything. If you create a ruleset that makes those games reasonable, you will end up with an absolute slurpfest in summer.

There were plenty of other teams with legit tactics in it that still got retarded scorelines when facing other teams with similarly sensible tactics. Sure, nobody played conservatively, but even in the cup most people play aggressively. IMO you're seriously mistaken if you think even half of the teams in Summer will play conservatively.

I've stated this before, but we had a good mix of offensive and defensive teams, with a variety of tactics. This wasn't a tournament where everyone played some kind of super defensive snoreball/busparking formation.
Also, barely anyone tests for invitationals, but people will test for summer. People will find tactics that shut down the opponents offense as best as possible. People tested for the FT2, and that IMO makes the data from the FT2 a lot more valuable/representative.
For me personally, my tests went very similar to the actual games, so I don't buy the argument that these games are "false positives". They are representative for what will happen during an Elite cup like Summer.
