Concerns about Platinum Stars' performance aside, I'm honestly just kind of bummed out at how "bleh" the game looks gameplay-wise.
Like, I fucking love the mainline games. I think they're great management/raising sims. I love managing my idols, managing time, having to strategize, etc. And even if they're janky as fuck at times (and I don't think ANYONE can deny that), they always felt unique in their own way. Well, in a way that made my inner min-maxing faggot really happy, at least.
So to see PS seemingly getting ready to toss aside all the management elements from the previous games and turn into a by-the-numbers rhythm game is just...I dunno.
Hopefully I'll be proven wrong once the game's in my hands. I actually really want to be wrong.

I agree with nearly everything you said. Platinum Stars is kind of looking "eh" at best. It's disappointing to go from an idol management simulator to just generic idol rhythm game #24. There's also just a lot of nitpicks I have with the game, like how there's no casual outfits, the girls look like they all have chipmunk cheeks, and how the fans in the audience all seem like they're on fucking trampolines.
