In FFX we have to go to the temple and do that bullshit trial and error puzzle garbage for 15 minutes, and then wait around while yuna "prays" in there and we can leave

In FFX prequel, apparently braska and co just run through the temple guns blazing and fuck shit up. And then get an epic showdown with the aeons that will then serve braska.

I have a feeling that each High Summoner was worse than the one preceding him/her.

So you have all the way at the start Zaon, who managed to beat Sin back into the earth for literally a HALF-CENTURY with the Final Summoning. FIVE HUNDRED YEARS before Sin dared to come back, that's multiple generations of men and women who lived and died without ever having to fear the monster, and long enough for everyone to assume that it died for good.

That was of course a thousand years ago, and each calm after that was shorter and shorter because the High Summoner was shittier than the previous one. By the time you hit Braska, the Calm lasted ~6 months before Sin was already back. You could sire a child the day Sin went down and STILL have it show up to ruin the birth.

Yuna couldn't even bring herself to do the Final Summoning and murdered Yunalesca to make certain no one else ever would be able to do it, because Yuna is a fucking hack of a summoner.

The norm could still have been decades each time with Zaon being an extreme outlier given who was powering THAT Final Summon (i.e. Yunalesca, who was directly related to Yu Yevon) and Braska being an outlier on the other end because his bloodline might just suck ass at summoning to begin in general (and him being an extreme outlier by THAT standard) or he just barely pulled off the Sin kill.

The best games are the PS era sans IX which is a downgrade in many areas but may appeal to someone who wants an upgrade over the NES games.

I would really start with two games: VII or IX. If you like VII, move onto VIII, X, XII, and XIII. If you liked IX more, kil-...er try out IV, V, and VI.

If you are only interested in the pinnacle of FF games and don't have time to play multiples, play XIII. It's the best game in the series and maybe even of all time.

Your definition of a poorly designed boss seems to be one where it isn't immediately obvious what you have to do but you actually have to use your tiny fucking burger brain to figure out how to approach the fight. How old are you if you really think a good boss is one that a monkey with down syndrome could beat on their first try? You fail once, learn from your mistakes, formulate a new plan and beat the boss. No, I actually got hit by the gimmick of the tower itself because I split my party the wrong way and didn't realize that physically attacking one of the mobs would spark a heavy counter attack like meteor.
My real big gripe is shit like the crystals in the tree where they counter attack with a heavy hitting aoe when low health and really not much else besides. So you basically figure out "Hey, I can firaga or titan three of them fairly easily and they don't do a ton" and then suddenly get slapped with three AoEs at once.
Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but some of this crap that has popped up with bosses and even level design to a degree is agitating.

Oh, and Samurai is actually a shitty ability school when dealing with just one enemy (aka most boss fights). The best two samurai (Firion in Japan and Gilgamesh) have ridiculous skillsets elsewhere to make up for that deficiency, odds are high she'll be 5* samurai 4* combat 3* celerity or some dumb shit like that because she's like what would happen if you crossed a Monk's self-centered nature (aka the reason why Monks are generally hated) with a Samurai's shittiness at dealing with more than one character (which is why samurai not named Gilgamesh or Firion suck ass [Auron being an exception because of his amazing SSB, which blows the fuck out of this random's SSB]).

So she's the worst part of a Monk combined with the worst part of a Samurai.

Doesn't even matter much what additional abilities she has anyways. Like if she gets 5* ninja I still wouldn't give a flying fuck, because they introduced the Onion Knight last event and no one is EVER beating him out for title of best Ninja. 5* thief? Have fun competing with Rikku, Yuffie, or Faris, all of whom are from realms that actually mean a shit and all of whom get better soul breaks than you. 5* celerity? Lightning is on line for her fucking OSB at this point, enough said. 5* spellblade? Enjoy getting shoved in the dirt by Squall, Cloud, Celes, Bartz, and so many other/better characters.

She'd need 5* support for me to even pretend to give a shit, and I'd probably still take Tyro over her anyways because Sentinel's Grimoire.

Eiko with Golems Flute is an excellent addition to your team. She should replace Kain.

Don't worry too much about relics and new weapons. The BSB banners will be appearing shortly and you can spend all your mythril there for very good relics. In the mean time, focus more on abilities.

You should look at the guide for RK in the OP to get an idea of the best skills at the earlier stages of the game. In addition, this reddit guide is worth a read for a better understanding of the direction you want to move in regards to abilities.

The one thing I would personally advise against is creating black magic spells. They are inferior right now to physical skills generally speaking.

I played two alt global accounts for a number of months and have a JP account and I went full physical in the early game for all three accounts. On all of them I was clearing up to and including ++ or +++ depending on the event within two weeks. Physical and magic are pretty even early on.

Well anyway, Ayame was a figure in the Bastok storylines way back in the early days of XI, before the "main" girls of the expansions existed. I always thought she was cool because she was kind of just presented as average workman like without much flash. She was just a high rank who did her job.
