Eh, I'd disagree. While the characters themselves definitely look a bit jarring standing side by side, the design and art direction of Battleborn is pretty good in my opinion. Its very bright and vibrant and theres a lot of little details in the game that help to give it life and personality.
And thats also a detractor to the game as well, unfortunately. In a teamfight it can be very difficult to pin down what exactly is happening on screen with so many explosions, particle effects, and ground effects on screen. This bleeds into the world of streaming and lets plays of the game as well- with so much going on its difficult for the viewer to comprehend what is happening, and with so many effects happening the average Battleborn stream is a blurry mess due to the low bitrate of a lot of streaming services.

Decided to try out Atticus, queued up for a few story missions to try him out. Only finished one out of five games and spent an embarrassing amount of time waiting for a rez. He feels squishy as hell for being a brawler style character, even picked up all of his regen abilities to try and survive, no dice. Attikus is vicious late game; him and El Dragon are similar. both need a healer early game though unless youre very cautious. every good Attikus ive played with is an early game hit-n-run minion killer and a late game ruthless player killer.

2. Make something that teaches players how to play Incursion and Meltdown. New players are completely clueless and get wrecked by experienced ones.
3. Fix matchmaking, so there're less one-sided games, which drives people away from the competitive modes.
4. Either reduce the grind significantly, or embrace it and make competitive free-to-play. Sell the the campaign for $30 or something. What the game needs is more players.
5. Fix the visual clutter and the clunky UI. There are too many QoL features to list but Gearbox needs to hit all the major ones.
Then advertise the massive patches this needs as a reboot of the game.

Microtransactions are pretty much consumable transactions at a low price bought with real money and are designed to be purchased over and over and over again, example in pic related.
Alani and other story related DLC in Battleborn is bought through one transaction of $15-$20 for all content. Nothing micro about it.

Episodic DLC are microtransactions in my book. And yes, look at what they did for the Borderlands series, they'll do the same thing for Battleborn.
