Plus infernalworks has a shitty layout, oftentimes mods actually lack descriptions in their threads and there's so many mods that someone new to that site has no clue which are actually worthwhile to spend your time on getting to run.

Having some recommended by /cgg/ would be really nice actually.

Gilgamesh and Rebellion can help clear out a bunch of rooms pretty easily. You'd be surprised.

Maybe if he was only tied to 1 style and 1 set of weapons he'd be severely limited, but you can use just 1 set of weapons and all styles just fine.

Literally my biggest frustration with the batman games were people praising it's combat like it's the 3rd coming of christ. When I asked some of them about it they were totally baffled that I implied otherwise. The impression I got was that they liked the animations and the fact that you could point the stick towards another enemy mid combo. Shit that is literally as old as the snes.

That was one person that got disappointed because he made an uninformed purchase. Some of his complaints looked legit but from what he was posting it didn't look like he tried to dig or find anything at all. The movesets per character are as limited as other musous, so it's terrible in terms of "muh creativity".

It's much better. It's more rounded, and the concave sticks feel fantastic. There's also a fancy multicolor led and a headphone jack, if that can be of any use to you.

The only thing I don't like is the placement of the central buttons. The Share and Start buttons are way too tiny and out of place to use for taunting mid-battle, but you can simply set those to the trackpad.

I've said it 1000 times now. Sengoku Basara is a Warriors game and has always been that. It plays 95% like a Warriors game, it uses the same formula as a Warriors game, and the other 5% leftover is just Capcom's input. People say it's cuhrayzee, but to me, the combos don't look any better than Orochi Warriors combo. I'd even say that because OW has a third character they even look more interesting than Sengoku Basara combos.

The only argument is that Sengoku Basara apparently has depth, but doesn't require any real execution. It's just Warriors game with Anime swordmans and some depth.

And for people would like to argue against me, don't worry... I've already purchase the game and it's on the way. You get my full review soon. By the way I did play the 3rd game.

The best Sengoku Basara combo video was done by some anon here and was entered in one of the recent VST. His combos literally look like shit from Warriors Orochi.

Ground base -> Tag -> Re-position -> Ground Base -> Tag -> Add a little bit of jumping in there -> Add some Musou supers -> etc -> etc -> possible repeat(?) -> etc -> etc

Same shit from WO. Even the General NPC's physics act the same. Once they get in a combo their just a game physics experiment.


I might make a Webm showing the combos side by side so you can see there's really no difference from a visual PoV.

So, i decided to play my dmc 4 vanilla on my xbox, after some time of playing bayonetta only. I pick Dante and go on mission 17 on Dante Must Die.

And for some reason, i'm better at the game, i didn't do anything advanced, i actually did pretty basic stuff (and i didn't even switch from rebellion at all), but i was able to control my position and the enemies quite well. I died twice, one in the beginning,and i restarted the stage, and the other on the agnus fight because i messed up and got cornered when he decided to spin.

And i still don't touch royal guard, i think i'm going to practice that.

And i also now have a better notion of what gives me invincibility and what i can use to avoid stuff, a thing that i didn't know the last time i played dmc 4.

Of course, i'm a scrub at dmc 4, but that will change, i just don't know how i'll manage 3+ games at the same time, but i'll do it.

A few things to fix or add to that guide

> You kept the part about "walking is required to cancel shotgun". I told you this isn't the case, you just need to jump forward or backward.

They've patched the demo for better less clunky gameplay, and they have said announced relatively recently several changes to the combat system.
Evade cancels for your attacks. No MP necessary for basic roll.
There's less of the "walk-around in a circle" when you want to turn 180 (this is in the demo patch)
MP gain will be more prominent during battle, so battles wont be hit, run and hide.

They also said that weapon switching won't be automated, and instead be up to the player (yay motherfucker).

That said, probably not cuhrayzee.

There is also the warp dodge, and timed warp dodge, blocking bullets, the parry, dodge roll, quick recovery, QTE co-op attacks triggered by a circle in the field, and co-op attacks triggered during your normal attacks by pressing a button.
There is going to be aerial combos, with warping included.
Then there's magic that we don't know anything about.

Yes the targetting system was irresponsive as fuck mostly due to the fact that it's hard to change targets while attacking, and not using dmc4's targetting priority. These were big complaints with the poll and I'm sure they worked on that shit hard.
When attacking you were pulled into enemies, that was shit too, and it seems there will be no real execution barrier.
But the more I play it the more I'm beginning to see how it flows and that I could have serious potential if they play their cards right.

Every single one of the moves you listed in the first paragraph, apply for the second one.

I just started playing GodHand but Pummel is a basic attack and the final hit is a knockback, Stomp knocks down, Countering demons is also a knockback, touch of god I'm not sure, but when it hits regular enemies I believe it knocks back. You can see Kob using all of these in his NG+ Hard run.

QTEs/Button prompts and "Shitty mechanic where you're invincible throughout it's duration, stuck in a cinematic" aren't necessarily the same thing, even though that's the main implementation of them.

I hit the point on my "New Game NSIC Pure Platinum Run with bayonetta"(inspired by yoshesque's run with Jeanne on NSIC), that was most afraid.

Chapter V, i just did it, and got my Pure Platinum on it. The reasons i was afraid of this chapter are:

-Witch Time alfheim, i believe that with Jeanne is impossible to do this alfheim without bracelet of time, but i'm not sure, but i'm doing with bayonetta, it was easier than i thought, and since i was able to get halos enough to buy a gaze of despair (i have since chapter 2, didn't stop to grind or anything like that), i was able to gain a lot of meter, and the alfheim was easier.
-The chapter is long, meaning that if i got a bad score in time or combo (since damage is easy to control), i would have to start over again.
-Stay in the air alfheim. This one was the one that i was theorizing all the time on how to do it, since at this point in game, i don't have either a bracelet of time, or the bird form. But it was exactly how i thought, break the enemy armor the fastest possible, and then uses the whip grab and enemy step off the enemy, i wasn't perfect, so i had to go for a menu in the middle of the alfheim to change the whip for a sword so i could stop my fall momentum a few seconds more, but i believe that with precision and setup, you can do it without changing weapons.
-Instakill moment, this one got me, before the fight agains the serpent thing, it seems that it is easier to fall on harder difficulties on this part, but i was able to restart.
-Jeanne boss fight, nothing like a bossfight in the end of a long chapter, eh?

But i was able to go trough it, and i got my pure platinum, and now i can buy the bird form and bat within, that will make the run way easier, i'm just afraid of one alfheim in the future and possible resets.

Hey /cgg/ BnS anon here! I know in the past I have shown off some PvP stuff without really explaining anything so I'd like to give some of that right now. Today I'll go over the recovering and escape mechanics, their properties and when can they be used. I will also use WebMs to showcase them.

Back Rolls
>Can only use while on the floor or in a groggy state.
>Decent cooldown
>0.2 secs of I-Frames at the end

Back rolling is probably the most unsafe thing to do while on the floor and is best to use it only when you have your Tab or if the player cannot use that as an opportunity to get a big punish on you. When near the edge of the arena it is never ever a smart decision.


Tab (Escape)
>Can be used to escape most situations
>Can not be used to escape grabs
>Long cooldown
>1 second of I-Frames once you have completely escaped

Tab is the most important tool to know when to use and to also watch out for during all PvP matches. It is the only tool you have in the game that will allow you escape both stun and knockdown combos. Many of the previous WebMs clips I've shown you consist of players doing 100 - 0 combos. Once you burn this skill you are completely open to anything and everything, use it wisely!


Now I will show you a clip for my point of view. @ around 0:02 my opponent slams me on the ground. If you look to right of my character you will see a skill appear, prompting that it can now be used. Around 0:03 seconds there's a silhouette, that indicates that the I-Frames at the end were active as the attack landed. After that my opponent uses a shoulder charge which put me in a stunned state, into a knockdown, great back roll punish but was a little late. @ 0:07 I decided to use my Tab. The skill on the Left near the chat box is my Tab.

Now after that, I knockdown my opponent and then baited his back roll -> spin with a back dash(changes to Draw Stance) penta slash into a full combo. The reason this happened was due to my opponent burning his Tab earlier.

I sort of like it right now and am excited for it's features, but it plays totally different than it looks. To me the gameplay looked a bit more stiff and methodical, but it's quite button mashy and slidey, often leaving you attacking in a direction you didn't want to or sliding all the way past 3 enemies close to you because the auto targetting system thought it was a good idea to home in on that small elephant thing on the other side of the battle. The 2 or 3 attacks that don't have that homing "feature" feel really good though and would be comparable to something out of dmc4. One jumping spear attack in particular.
Also once you're locked in an attack combo it's hard to get out and change targets unless you cancel out of it with a roll, jump, or warp.

But I really think these things are so lame because of the demo, and seeing as they're doing a lot of smart things with the combat system and these were the most obvious complaints they might actually pull this one off. True cuhrayzee I can't say, but It'll definitely have a technical aspect to it.

Also the boyband thing is pretty amusing. Sometimes they're just guys talking shit. Sometimes they're just being typical animu fags with special snowflake syndrome and poetic tendencies.

Grab Counters
>Used to counter grabbed state
>To activate, requires being pressed at the exact same time your opponent uses their next attack

Grab counters are very skillful and only work when timed with your opponent's attack. It requires you to press the button at the same time and will not work if you miss it by even a single frame. They are very hard to do, but if you can read your opponent's timing habits you'll manage to get one off. Very rewarding since guessing does not work.

Forgot to mention that the counter does not work on the grab itself. Any damage, animations or attacks being done during the grab can not be countered and will count as a missed counter. It is the next skill you must counter, not the actual grab.

Grab Escapes

Grab Escape is an escape that is bound to what I'd say is one of your best skills and is only available if you put skill points into the actual skill before the match starts. It's pretty much the Grab version of Tabs.

Also, about the skill point, unlike most MMOs, Blade and Soul is an competitive game first, the main focus is PvP. Skill points in blade and soul can be re-spec at anytime on the fly while out of combat or waiting for a round to begin. If you were fighting say... a Blade Master, you will not place points into the skill, because you do not need it against Blade Master since they don't have a grab. Instead you spec some only place. It is only useful against classes with grabs.

Unsurprisingly, you completely and totally missed the point.

All I see from looking at that webm is a dude getting hit and armoring straight through it. From the other demo footage I browsed other enemies barely react to getting hit too, and I highly doubt that'll change much in the finished game. There's no interesting move properties that have various effects on different enemies, because that doesn't matter in an RPG.

How much of a grind would unlocking moves be? how much are levels and stat padding going to affect the potential for skillful play? Would there be a decent post game that allows you to experiment when you become end game levels of OP? Would there even be an NG+?

The game might have some semi interesting mechanical nuances with the warp stuff, but at the end of the day there's no chance in hell it'll be cuhrayzee.

Alright, that's pretty much the stuff you need to know about recovering. There are more that I haven't listed but I just wanted to teach you the main stuff.

Combos

Comboing in Blade & Soul only requires you to remember the 6 rules. They are Stun, Groggy, Aerial, Knockdown, Skill Resets, and Ani-cancels. Learn which skills qualify to have the five states and also learn which attacks Ani-cancel into each other. Ani-cancels, known as Animation Cancelling, are Normal attacks that can continuously chain into one another. When this is done in say, a fighting game, usually the character will start to move away from the other character being hit. But in Blade and Soul there is no form of push back. Ani-cancels are solely for damage only, they do not have cool down, but they do cost meter.

Take a look at the WebM from >>122327360 and focus on the bottom right of the screen. Notice the blue orbs? Yes ,that is my meter gauge. During the combo you will notice it depletes but it is also building meter. That is because some of the attacks being used build meter, too! The only thing that limits you from continuing a combo is the amount of meter you have. This only applies to PvP. At PvE end game with the right weapon and gems you can have infinite meter and combo infinite! Or until whatever it is you were hitting dies. PvP is equalized so meter will drain during combos. And even with meter management, every class in the game has a death combo in Arena PvP as I've shown in the pass with the exception of Assassin. Assassin does have death combos, but they Okizeme you to death, and it is very very hard to deal with a good Assassin.

This shit is worse than DMC2.
Jumping feels like DMC2 except even less gravity.
No way to manually aim, auto lock-on is atrocious and switches like crazy.
Game is almost musou in combat/enemy/level design.
You have to use magic attacks to damage bosses and nothing but magic attacks.
No way of proper crowd control apart for magic attack or mashing melee and hope to stun-lock them first.
Certain enemies can only be killed/efficiently killed via magic attacks so if you're out of magic your fucked.
No way to style apart for maybe using the teleport cancels.
You need to find collectibles to level up damage output instead of using souls, the currency in-game.
Enemies are sponges, attacks have odd hitbox, some enemies you have to shoot to kill because they're too small to melee, hit confirmation overall feels wonky.
Christ, why do I even own this shit.

Well me neither. This is a demo, and I'm just showing off base mechanics. Hopefully the full game will provide some advanced tech. I'm hoping, and I asked at the forums for jumping off of enemies to create loops. magic and guns would have to be usable in the air, and the air combo system would have to be about as complex as the ground combat. Either way I think it's going to be a fun game to break.

Best type of DMC4 gameplay. Too bad no one ever does this in story modo like the DMC3 days. I guess DMC3 just has an overall finished product along with better enemy and stage design while DMC4 still doesn't after having a Special Edition.
