Snake has always relied on his superior reactions, patience, and defensive play to win. Since this game is all about being aggressive and being more proactive he's at a severe disadvantage. The problem with SFV is that it really only highlights one playstyle/mindset and that sucks for a lot of players. Practice is not a magic way to get better.
Put two people to practice the same game, with no prior knowledge of the game, and they wont learn at the same rate. Some people are just wired for competitive games while others are not. While guy A can take anywhere from months to years before realizing "wait a minute, maybe I need to stop moving so obviously just because it's comfortable, maybe I should move in unpredictable patterns even if it stresses me out" guy B can realize this in a few days, and might not even feel stress from straining his body and mind to play at unpredictable patterns the whole match, while guy A will do it for a few minutes before tiring out and then go back to flowchart gameplay.
You seem to think getting good at fighting games is a race where everyone goes at the same speed, it's not, basically some people have to run by foot while others have rollerskaters, at which point it doesn't matter how much time you spend, you will never catch up.
