What's the use of the laser cutter? What kind of stuff does it open. The small square boxes lying around random wreckages? Also post moths.
>>
Locked doors in wrecks.
That's it.
>>
> Finally have enough to build a moon pool.
> Doesn't attach cleanly to the rest of the base.

I'm going to have to get creative with some hallways.
>>
>>342948727
If you want it around in one way specifically, use hallway pieces to get it so the side with one entrance is the way you want it to be.
>>
>>342948927
Is there a way to rotate things when you are placing them? Right now I just blindly hope the snapping orients things correctly which is really hit and miss.
>>
>>342949075
Q and E should rotate place-able objects, like hallways. There's an onscreen hint when doing so.
>>
>>342948515
They don't open cargo or anything? I've been using the repulsor to open the locke ddoors so if that's the cutter only function it's not really useful.
>>
>>342949164
>Using the fuck-off cannon to open doors
Didn't think that was an option.

You open things like lockers/doors with the mouse click, not with Q/E.
>>
>>342949150
Must have missed that somehow. Thanks, Anon.

Are reginalds less horny or something? My peepers on the other hand are fucking like rabbits and multiply like every goddamn minute.

Get like 2 stalker eggs and when they've hatched release them in an open area with good visibility. Then what you do is start dropping metal salvages from the surface down to the area where you released them. You have to repeat the process, so keep dropping them down from the surface. They will play with the salvage and drop teeth in the process. I used like you 8 metal salvages and just constantly went up and down to the surface dropping them. Shallows is a good area for this since you have good visibility and are close to the surface.

One last tip: I ''build'' a moonpool station in a sandy area clearing all the sand in the process. Then I deleted the moonpool again. You now have a huge square open area. Release the stalkers in there and drop the salvage in there. This makes looking for the teeth less problematic then it would be in a grassy area for example.

Just dropping the Stalkers right under your Moon Pool works. They keep trying to gnaw the Seamoth and it breaks off teeth.

I haven't actually had a homegrown Stalker intentionally bite me once. A couple times by accident when going to the Seamoth, but other than that, they seem perfectly tame.

I think the idea was to make it a bit weaker so the cyclops is more relevant, they want the cyclops to be your home away from home and make the seamoth more like a temporary exploration vehicle.

I think it is fine, having to resurface with the seamoth every so often doesn't make it feel all powerful when you get it. I'm hoping it at least gives you enough oxygen to resupply 5 times or so at it until you have to go back up.
>>
>>342959342
CURRENTLY you can go 1700 meters at the deepest. They're going to expand it after launch. There's an arctic biome in the works and we may be able to travel deeper to discover more about the Precursors and whatever evil they're up to.

What's the story of the Prison? Tried Googling it and got a YouTube of some kid who couldn't get to the point of his theory on what the Prison is for or who made it.

Gist of what he said was there was a group of other explorers/miners who caged the Emperor there but all of their basis are abandoned too.

According to what I know/have heard, there are some previous maroonees that built some base sin various areas as they moved from the Mountain Island into the depths. Three people, I think they're a mom dad and son. The parents started doing experiments on themselves and transformed into the Warpers, being influenced by the Precursors to do so; the son built a weapon to fight them with but he accidentally shot down the Aurora. Either the Warpers or the Precursors then kidnapped all the survivors, including the ones in their lifepods (all the pods have a section on the right side where a seat as located ripped away) except for you. The Precursors also captured and imprisoned a Sea emperor for who-knows-what reason, and you need to free it so it can help you combat the Precursors.

>>342959807
I'm down with that, plus the Seamoth can refill its oxygen inside the Cyclops.

>>342960220
They'll be implementing temperature as well, meaning you'll get fried if you're close to lava or in hot water spots. If the arctic biome gets in you'll also have to watch for hypothermia. I think they should do it for the places we have now, water gets really cold in the deep.

Is this the Warper with artwork above? Seems like it fro mthe description. Did they say what said creatures want? Okay, they're trying to make contact with you in a spooky way... but what do they actually want from you? I hope if they do this, there's something more than them trying to / ending up killing you aggressively making contact. Like there's some way to make contact with them and prove they're not aggressive on purpose? Get them to realize "oh shit, our preferred mode of communication is hurting/freaking out our new alien friend. Shit. No wonder he killed Bazzorp and Truborg when they want into the alien's 'den' ".

If there was some sort of way to interact with these sentients like that it would be best, with branching "paths". For instance, if you didn't try to make contact with them eventually, or kept doing things they disliked (maybe they locked away or banished some super nasty things, you let them out, they're pissed at you etc) and they'd become aggressive. Otherwise, you could learn/build ways to communicate with them and start working with them on campaign objectives.

Seems like a neat idea if they take it beyond SPOOKY.

This is a mantis shrimp. They're big, mean, ornery, and powerful. They come in two varieties: Spearers, who impale or slice apart prey with razor-sharp blades; and Smashers, who smash and crush through shells and glass. They attack with THE POWER OF THE SUN.

Here's a mantis shrimp in action.

It COULD be they're tossing an idea around of ANOTHER Sentient Faction on the planet?

Because another Anon explained that there are Precursors who made contact with a family and in turn the parents turned themselves into Warpers and started breeding and their son made a giant weapon to kill the Precursors.

Can someone break down progression for me? I went through the start of the game assuming that once I built an advanced wiring kit it would like.. Unlock more stuff for me to build, but I'm lost as to how to get to deeper depths without really building a permanent base.
>>
>>342962174
Many arthrobods can shed limbs to distract enemies, they grow back. But the mantis also pretty much knocked its arm off, too.

When a mantis shrimp strokes something, it creates a cavitation bubble that, for an EXTREMELY short time, reaches a temperature five times hotter than the surface of the sun, then collapses and creates a powerful shock wave. That's what it uses to bludgeon prey to death and into pieces.
>>
>>342962581
I thought only the pistol shrimp could reach those temperatures.
>>
>>342962581
So if a mantis shrimp punches a human arm would it melt a hole through the skin or what?
>>
>>342962807

>>

I want to make a base asap, what materials should I start hoarding? I assume I need to get all the quartz and scrap i can find, but how much do I need to get started?

aurora just exploded, should I have gotten in there and fixed it or is this just part of the progression

just how effective is this knife as a weapon? should I fight or flight when i encounter anything new? (im too scared to leave the starting zone)
