I'll start.

Is that Huey?
From what I've heard Folklore was actually pretty well liked in its heyday, though to be fair there's a reason the "no games" meme still kinda lingers and Folklore was from that era.
Also, anything with pic related in it.
>>342643353
why was this game good? I've seen gamplay and it looks clunky.
>>342644416
Gameplay is decent. The level design is pretty uninspired but there's a decent flow to leveling creatures and swapping them out for new ones to keep combat a little fresh throughout. Generally though the aesthetic is quite good - music, story, visual design, that sort of thing. I liked it well enough and it didn't overstay its welcome length-wise, though you do have to play through each part twice for each character, though the creatures and story angle are different for each one.
>>342643353
Their game after this, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, is stellar. It's Ico meets Zelda and it's seriously great.
>>342644998

Gonna check that out right now thanks lad.
>>342644940
you could have at least tried with your bait. This would have been better.
>>342645134
It's really sad, actually. Bandai Namco threw them under the boss for some odd reason. They purposely kept the game lowkey that e3, only showing it outside of the public area to a small group of people, had ZERO marketing, then overprinted the game and declared it would be a million seller.
The game was so hard to find information for outside of their claim it would sell over a million. It had so little attention amazon put it half off day of release. Game republic was closed right after release.
It's a shame, because it's seriously one of my favorite games last gen. They could have done so much.

Pretty sure /v/ always had threads about Nier. It got brought up a lot in music threads too when it was new. But yeah as far as everyone is concerned definitely an under the radar title.
Posted this earlier in a similar thread, might as well do it again while it's dirt cheap.
It's a fps and a colonial america MURDER simulator. You get to kill red eyed spaniard and burning demonic indians during the day time, and when you switch to night time you get to kill skeletons and wraiths instead.
You do this while carrying on investigations about the countless murders and rapes committed in the remains of the colony you're exploring. You're a 15th century Phoenix Wright, armed with muskets, flintlocks and bows and with an attitude for putting restless souls to peace.
It's got a good spook factor and you get to kill minorities all the time (or their dead counterparts, hard to tell when they're bones).

IGN tried to tell youas someone who actually does like this game I need to say that it is definitely not a 9, more like a 7,but the PS3 was starved for agames at this point so hey

I think an 8 is fair enough. It's solid enough, but definitely needed polish. Still, was one of the few games where the axis controls were neatly used.
Don't know if it really qualifies as "hidden", but pic related. Too bad I sold it, I kinda miss it now since I neer beat it. Specifically because it's one of those games that locks you out of a super important quest item if you don't follow the optional sidequest steps. Wish I didn't sell it because now I can't find it.
Overall a decent Zelda 1 clone, has it's charm.

Pretty much every WPRG in early 90s.
You know, like for example Betrayal at Krondor.

http://insomnia.ac/reviews/xbox/gunvalkyrie/
>Gun Valkyrie was Smilebit's other ground-breaking 3D action game, every bit as ingeniously conceived and masterfully executed as the first one, though on a whole other level in terms of complexity and challenge — which is why it came nowhere near Jet Set Radio in terms of popularity, and why nowadays hardly anyone knows it.
>To be more precise, it's not that GV is that much harder to beat than Jet Set Radio (I think they both took me about the same amount of time to finish); it's that the former boasts a hugely more complex system than the latter, and therefore one much harder to master — this being part of the logic of things: as everyone knows, complexity gives rise to depth, and depth requires skill in order to be mastered.

I actually still have both cases and one of the games, doesn't work, but i feel you.
I usually just end up emulating it if I ever get the itch to play it again. Plus netplay is pretty fucking tight too
>>342656228
I still suck at the game, relatively, but you don't need godly skill to realize how fucking satisfying it is to play. It's a shame it bombed so hard.

YESSSSSSS
I remember a game from the PS2 that was some sort of hack'n'slash that started in black and white because you were some sort of wood android and had to recollect parts of your body, including your cornea.
I remember it was really good.
>>342656736
Hotly shitposted, kiddo.
>>342656628
hidden gems not visible turds.
Both of these
>>342656553
>>342656210
what are both of these posts trying to convey? could we have better formatting on your insults please?
>>342656736
Is that you PS2 shit collection poster?
>>342656751
Blood Will Tell. Yeah, it was great. You had to collect your body parts to unlock new abilities.
>>342656901
Just an awful shitposter
>>342656995
THIS. Very good game, no one ever talks about it save for rare PS2 game threads. Well worth the money if you can find it so much fucking fun.
>>342656821
Still mad that America didn't get that amazing black box for Pandora's Tower that Japan got. It was so nice aesthetically.
>>342655091
this was shit
>>342656969
No. Why you gotta be mean at me tryin to help ppl find good games
>>342657254
Lot of guys here say the original was better (never played it) but I enjoyed it a lot, much more than Just Cause 2. Also pic related if you want something similar
kind of hard to call this one necessarily hidden, but i dont think it got enough attention for how interesting/original it was
>>342657254
>there will never be a mercenaries 3
why do you remind me of this pain anon?
>>342648789
Shadow tower abyss is a Japanese exclusive, but there is a fan translation on emu paradise, get at it nig.
>>342647348
This one has to be into my top 5, not only did it set off as brilliantly as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8-4K5Q0Zc8
but it also made me cry like a little bitch with a tweest set up in the opening, Fucking amazing game.
Also, BEAUTY IS A SIN
>>342646274
I wish these were emulatable. Pisses me off, so much nostalgia.
Very simplistic combat like all Grasshopper games, but it bursts with a lot of style and charm. Worth owning.
>>342657884
This is not a gem.
This is an impossibility in writing incompetence.
>>342657798
You can play them fine with software mode if your computer isn't shit

http://wiki.pcsx2.net/index.php/Champions:_Return_to_Arms
how good are both of these games, /v/? i ended up picking up both this and Alpha Protocol from a local thrift store for around 8 bucks in total
>>342658106
Garbage. Alpha protocol's meh tier
>>342646463
>STREETWISE
>GEM
YOU CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF
>>342656995
Fucking thank you man
Honestly one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Lived up to the western aspects of the setting better than the other Wild Arms too, even though the story meanders a bit in the middle.
Not that hidden but certainly a gem. One of the prettiest games I've ever played.
>>342658037
It is a gem, and the writing is just fine.
>>342658498
I actually forgot that I had this game. Eh, I found the gameplay to be aggressively mediocre in execution, and though it is evocative of a stage production it has WAY too much talking in it. Not particularly upset that I only paid $7 for it.
>>342643353
This was a really good game. Shame it didn't do well enough to warrant a sequel. The concept was really fucking cool.
Better than Ricoshit
>>342647275
Found it at gamestop last week for 8 dollars. Couldn't believe my luck because I've been meaning to buy it for a long time.
>>342657315
You posted a lot of shitty games and worst of all you just posted pictures without any reasoning behind why you even thought they were hidden gems my friend.
Quality before quantity, make your posts count and then we can hug it out in co-op, OK?
>>342661376
Oh, and your "lists" describing them as shit is any better?
Don't make me laugh, child.
>>342643353
Tadashi Satomi cannot make bad games.
Prove me wrong.
>>342643353
I never considered this game a hidden gem. I remember seeing commercials for it every 10 mins on G4 for like a month.
>>342661867
Yeah, I didn't even have a PS3 and I heard a little about Folklore back then. It wasn't entirely hidden if I caught wind of it; I live under a rock media-wise for the most part.
>>342651695
This game was fucking amazing. Too bad online was dead as fuck.
>>342655776
>not liking Gotcha Force
You literally deserve to be killed.
>>342646463
i don't know why people seem to hate streetwise
it was about as capcom crazy as you could get.
It's like Deus Ex if it was set in Latin America and made by a drunk Russian bootlegger
>doing tequila shots at the bar before you get into your rusty car and drive to a narco plantation to blow it all up
It was a buggy mess of half-baked mechanics, but damn if it wasn't fun
>>342647178
WET is better.
>>342661474
Man I offered to hug it out, and you feel the need to keep on insulting? Well no hug for you now buddy and I wont co-op with you either.
>>342650075
isn't this game basically the thing?
still need to play it.
