The combat is weak in comparison to Bloodborne, but is better than almost every gamepad-compatible RPG that wasn't made by From. Don't 90% of you retards still get nostalgic over Final Fantasies 6-10? Would you prefer Witcher 3 had ATB?
Massive AAA open world RPGs will always be deficient in some respect. It simply isn't economical to make a game that does combat as well as a souls game, RPG elements as well as an Obsidian game, with writing and characterisation worthy of even a mediocre film or TV drama. Making an RPG is like making a fallout character, you can't put all your stats up to ten you only have limited resources. You pick and choose and hope that the final result will be something greater than the sum of its parts. The success of the Witcher shows they did pretty well there.

somehow witcher 2 regressed when it became easymode 2 (but requiring a meter to block was among the worst design decisions i have ever seen) and then regressed further into 3
though it was terribly awfully balanced, that fight against the 3 different knights early in the witcher 2, before they made the game easymode, was one of the most challenging and rewarding fights i ever played

That said, DDs combat was borderline experimental, floaty, and overall much worse than Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry, the two games it tried to fuse. Even with the improved performance that came with the PC port, the game itself is nothing more than great framework for what is hopefully a masterpiece sequel

Yes that happens with weak enemies if you go full Igni. However, you really don't have to use igni on those situations unless you enjoy cheesing. Most tougher enemies and those introduced in the DLCs are immune to the burning effect.

The witcher 3 has a different audience. My step dad loves the fallout series but said that the witcher had too much talking and no enough action. I heard the same from my 17 year old step brother, CDPR's audience is people who actually enjoy quality(good writing, good characters, smaller more beautiful environments, interesting yet flawed) over quantity(huge empty world, "never-ending" quests, boring hit them with that stick or shoot them over and over again combat).
