Well, after watching about 5 hours of the new Zelda I can safely say that Nintendo won E3 with literally just Zelda.

Zelda is my favorite series of all time, and I really like what they're doing with this one, but I found WAY more hype and reasons to generally be excited in the other conferences. Thinking that Nintendo holds a candle to the other conferences, with a 4 hour Zelda stream with some Pokemon, is nothing more than being a nintendo fanboy.

I think other conferences like Sony and PC showed a whole lot more overall, or had better presentations, but 5 straight hours of Zelda gameplay is seriously hard to beat. Especially when it's rad as fuck. It looks like the most fun Zelda game to date, the map is MASSIVE, there seems to be quite a lot to do, so much TECHNOLOGY going on, etc. I can't wait to play it. I was pretty burned by Skyward Sword but I'm completely sold on this game already. 5 hours of gameplay is exactly what they needed to show. I was dubious at best of a Zelda-only stream but this was pretty much perfect to get me hyped. The fact they kept showing new stuff right up until the end without repeating the same areas over and over was really great.

I imagine it will have at least one good town, and a few other smaller villages. Zelda usually delivers in that department. I don't want to overestimate them. But at the same time, there's no reason to think they would do any less than what they've done before.
I think this new Zelda is without a doubt the best game that has been ever done.
Nintendo has simply crafted a piece of entertaining media that pushes the boundaries of what we now as gaming so far, that I seriously can't see a single videogame surpasing it in the next 10 years or more.
Every detail, every animation, every branch and corner of the world's majestic enviroment it's done with the love and caring that only Nintendo knows.
This is not a just game, it's a ode to us, the players, to show how when even the world of games is at it's worse with all the cinematic and press x for awesome shovelware, Nintendo can do the impossible... to actually make games.

It was without a doubt the best game shown this e3, the amount of technology and how pure fun it looks is just amazing, I see why they focused on it so hard.
That said, I don't think it wins them e3, amazing game, but to be fair I'd say sony's show of just walking out to show a dozen game trailers with no talking/fluff inbetween was pretty amazing.

The game looked neat, but there are a couple of things that worry me.
The weapon durability system looks like it could get old fast. Weapons frequently breaking looks frustrating, and the weapons themselves could be more interesting by having stats besides damage. Having different types of weapons is cool and I like the variation it offers, but again I don't want them breaking all of the time.
The open world looks like it's fun to explore, but what they showed seemed too empty to me. It reminded me very much of MGSV's open world, expansive but shallow. The sanctuary things are cool, but they didn't really feel like a part of the world because you just get ported into some puzzle room. It would have been much cooler if it was a more Skyrim style dungeon where you explore some ruins that feel like they're a physical part of the outside world. Aside from the sanctuary it seems like all there is to do is explore and raid the goblin camps. Villages need to be interesting to give the world the depth it needs. If they're quests hubs that give you things to do out in the world and have inhabitants that reflect the state of the world the game would seem much more interesting. I don't find sandbox games fun after a certain amount of time, I want narrative, purpose, and lore. Witcher 3 set the bar for open world games and what the demo showed seemed far behind that.
I wish the gameplay we saw was more structured and comprehensive so we could get a better idea of how things not shown would affect what we were shown. All the treehouse people did was explore and it all started looking the same to me after an hour of watching. It was more like watching a letsplay instead of a presentation. I just want to know more about the game than the open world aspect.
I hope the NX is as powerful as the PS4, the 2014 demo looked gorgeous and what we saw today was disappointing in comparison. Beautiful art direction should not be held back by hardware.
