I'll get it out of the way that the game will function properly, I expect that much.
But for this game that Inafune has been touting about as the foundation for a whole new franchise, with a movie, a cartoon, a sequel, even tossing around the idea of an Amiibo, it is so fucking passionless that it hurts.

The presentation for this stellar title meant to head this multimedia franchise Inafune wants to establish? Garbage. The flaws in the visuals are obvious enough, but let's dig deeper.
Cutscenes? Close-ups on these character models? Okay, sure. As far back as the demo released over a year ago, characters' mouths don't move when they speak, even when the camera is zoomed in on them. All they have are idle animations and stock poses. One would think that for a title meant to kickoff a new franchise, they might polish this and add some detail like a moving mouth in the months of delays they've had.
In the most recent footage? There's no such polish.

The menu that displays what items you can use to recover health? Nothing more than text boxes you can select. No furnishings like item icons or the like.

It is so. Fucking. Passionless.
Inafune, at the head of the project, has the final say in all aspects of Mighty No. 9, and this is what he thinks is satisfactory? This kind of half-assed, "it does the bare minimum, we're done here" kind of attitude?

He thought just because he worked on Mega Man he would have enough of a "legacy" for people to just rush to his doorstep and offer him deals.

and that WOULD have been the case, in fact! As much as we are not willing to admit, having a good background can get you anything in life.

However, his mistake was doing this all BEFORE his game was out. If he would have just kept it in his pants and waited till MN9 was out, we probably 1- wouldn't have this much disdain for his practices 2- other media productions could REALLY see the result of his claims and be willing to cooperate with him.

He couldn't wait a little longer before turning into Capcom. he wanted to be a Capcom-level thing right now. Rome is not founded in a day, as they said; Not for Inafune: For him Rome can be build in a day, you just need to save cash by making it out of popsicle sticks, nobody will tell the difference.
