is this a good first pc http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/Xpvb4D
Wait a month and get the RX 480, it's way better than the R9 380 for only $200. Put the money you save and get an i5 6600k, if you have a microcenter near you they sell 6600k for like 210. Other than that it's okay for the price.

Buy an 120 gb Samsung SSD instead, and a 7200 rpm 64 mb cache cheap 1 tb or more hard disk.
Also go with lower latency ram
something like this:
HyperX Savage Black 8GB DDR4 2400MHz CL12
Just find a very cheap second hard video card for around 100$ +
like r7 370 or gtx 750 ti

The Nvidia GTX 750 Ti card is a great budget cars IMO. Only like $110 I think and is more than capable of running a lot of semi-modern PC games at decent settings
>>339672308
this 100%
>tfw bought a 380 for 350 bucks
kill me
>>339672024
pretty nice build for a first-time, I'm surprised it's that expensive though since that's quite a budget build and you're in canada which is close to the US where parts are super cheap, here it's like double the price
I would say you probably don't need the CPU cooler just use the stock fan since you're not overclocking
Also what this guy said >>339672308
>>339673024
ram latency doesn't mean shit for majority of applications beyond synthetic benchmarks
get the cheapest highest capacity kit you can get from a reliable brand
>>339672024
>>339677763
By the way I have that motherboard and it works just fine but since it's pretty budget you won't be able to add more sticks of RAM or another GPU, it has limited slots.

OP you really don't want a dual core cpu in 2016.
Quad is pretty much the defacto standard/requirement for most games developed today.

>w10
Might as well use a literal toaster
>>339672024
canadian prices SUCK
>>339672308
That $200 USD is fucking near $400 CAD, OP has no hope of buying it
How's this build I'm thinking of getting?
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/YDJdnn
I'm not buying a 970; it's a placeholder for the 1070 when it comes out. Don't want to go over $1100.

AIO coolers are a meme
get rid of the stupid wifi
get rid of that god awful monitor
>>339672024
>http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/Xpvb4D
>first pc
get rid of the cooler, you don't need it for a locked CPU like the i3
SSD is WAY too expensive, get rid of it entirely
wait for the 480 at the end of the month
find a less ricer case under $60

Overclocking in the summer, dum dum. A 212 EVO isn't going to cut it with a small mid-tower when I'm overclocking.

are you a Bedouin living in a tent in the desert?

If you have to have wifi, Asus is ok and comes with the mobo.

A noctua dh-15 is better than that AIO cooler.

okay.

To be honest family, I would buy an SSD with any build just for those sweet, sweet start-up times.

at least get an m.2 drive then and not 2.5" SSD
>>339683812
>>339684135
an m.2 drive > 2.5"
the speeds are just not the same

Im so sorry, have a (you) on the house
Is there a legit reason for getting a full tower other than if you have a retarded amount of hard drives? I have no desk space or money, but they look so nice
>>339686251
what word is replaced with (you)?
>>339687321
a name obviously
someone obviously doesn't know mad libs

water cooling
E-ATX builds
need massive airflow for some reason
>>339672024
Cut the Cooling fan the processor comes with a stock one and get an I5 quad core, trust me man Its way more worth it in the long run. Would recommend a full size atx and a corsair 200R/300R case, looks nicer and corsair is alot easier to work with.
