It's the first time that I tried something from the genre. The aesthetics don't make it "grand" anon. Instead of being about a whole planet, it could instead be about intelligent ants in a backyard, while the game itself could play the exact same way with the same number of factions and all the same rules, and it would still be the same genre.

The complaints about weak diplomacy and no other option than all out war sound legit though.

Streamers are coming out and telling what they really think of it (now that they aren't embargoed) and it's looking like the thinnest Paradox game to date.
