In the streams they did they always just blobbed up one big stack with heavy armor/missiles and rolled slowly with it, but I reckon you could get away with multiple smaller, high evasion strike forces used to pester larger fleets and stations

Plants don't make much sense because they're extremely passive. They have rudimentary nervous systems, but they don't operate anything similar to animalia.
There's just a lot of things about plants that don't really allow even a tribal-level civilization, let alone getting into space.

Having a high slavery acceptance increases your own populations happiness, which makes them work better at whatever they do. Slaves have a natural bonus to working because they are forced too which makes them more useful than your own race, or migrated aliens, but there are risks like slaves rebelling. Your traits and government type have a massive effect on what you can and cant do, and the outcomes of slaves. So its a lot more complicated than that.
