I bought the expansions I was missing and resubbed a week ago with 2 friends. None of us have played the game since TBC.
The very first thing we noticed, was how retardedly strong your character is in relation to the monsters.
Remember those low level areas that were quite a pain in the ass to get through (in a good way though, one that you have fond memories of)?
Yeah there's nothing like that. You can pull like 6-8 monsters higher level than you as a fucking mage and kill them all with just a DoT or two.

So after the 3 of us complained about how pitifully briandead easy it is to level, we decided to try some dungeons, because dungeons are always fun....right?
Wrong.
95% of the people who are playing a low level character are decked out in heirlooms. I mention this so people don't just say "Well just don't invite anybody with heirlooms xD". Good luck with that.
Anyway, to keep this as short as possible, dungeons are now a joke. The people with heirlooms will be pulling entire rooms AS WELL AS THE BOSS and killing everything without even needing a healer. I'm dead fucking serious, that is no exaggeration.
The entire dungeon will be over in sub 5 minutes.
Remember those times when groups would mark monsters for the mage and rogue to sheep + sap? then you'd all focus down the ones that aren't CC'd? Yeah that is just flatout gone. Now you just run in and pull everything because you cannot die.
Also, anybody else remember that time when you could run a dungeon numerous times and not get a level up even after 2-3 runs? That was good shit, meant I could farm some blue set and actually make use of it (like the Fang set, for example). Now though? By time you finish the dungeon once, you'll gain approximately 3-4 levels.

Dungeons give you an absurd amount of xp, so once you get 15 you just spam LFG and get to level 100 in literally a few hours.

Somebody posted this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4JQje3NGe4 before but there is a better video that illustrates it better (though I'm having trouble finding it). It shows how in vanilla/bc/Wotlk low level monsters actually do damage. spells actually cost a significant amount of mana. higher level monsters can and will kill you.
This also extends to max level monsters too, but it's less evident.

I never had a max level in BC, and I played for like 4-6 months.
I was having so much fun making alts and doing the low level instances that I ended up spending all of my time making twinks and shit.
Low level dungeons weren't finished in 5 minutes. Blackrock Depths took so long to finish that I only got to see the final boss of that dungeon once despite running it 12 or so times, because somebody always had to leave a few hours in.

you can still do that. in fact, it's more fun twinking low levels these days, since you have more options to play with.

you're the minority. I'm not saying it was bad to spend 2 hours in BRD, but the majority felt like it was a chore at times. trying to convince guild members to help with ony chain was like pulling teeth. the only people that wanted to help are people on their alts that also needed it.
also, when cata first started, deadmines took nearly an hour to complete. the community whined and bitched until it was nerfed and changed into multiple sections.

Except Blood which is literally a 2 button spec. Have you seen how abysmally bad DS is on Alpha? It practically never heals above the 7% minimum. There is no point in using Heart Strike at all because it only gets you 1 extra DS every 70 seconds and DS itself is fucking garbage.
Frost and Unholy are improved, but they literally could no have been made worse than they are in WoD. What they're doing to Blood is fucking disgusting though.

Don't get me wrong there's issues, Blood's numbers are low and the talents are pretty shit, I'm not sold on this 'you have to be in dnd to aoe' strat either.
But blood's a tank spec and they wont let it be overwhelmingly shit that just doest happen.
But its hard to not be happy compared to the steaming pile of unfun/outdated DK's have been in mop and wod.
Unholy has been a baseline wrath DK with no flavour or hook for two expansions and frost is finally getting buttons (and possibly scaling).

Subtlety, Holy Paladin and Monk are probably going to be my three classes of preference for this new expansion.
Holy paladin recieved a TON of quality of life changes that I am super happy with. Rogue looks cool and I am glad they cleaned up the specs a little and monk is just monk. You can do some cheesy shit with them.

A blood dk's only movement option is Wraith Walk on a heavy cd and very punishing restrictions.
That already makes them overwhelmingly shit, even if you discount the fact that Death Strike is simply worthless in the "non-bursty" PvE model they want to have now, Bone Shield is just a boring buff, none of the Artifact traits interact with Death Strike (that fucking Leech thing is so worthless it doesn't count), Death Pact is gone, Empower Rune Weapon is gone, Icebound Fortitude is gone, Heart Strike WAS good but has been made baseline and nerfed into the fucking ground.
I'm basically forced to reroll a different tank now, because Blood is so abysmally bad in every regard for what they want to do with raids and tanking.
