The weapon arts don't come close to expanding the movesets the way Bloodborne's weapons did. Also it amazes me how often I would see Chalice dungeon section from BB used as a template for areas. Clearly the game was rushed thanks to being developed along side BB. The reused elements in both level design (all of Latria is used) and even boss design (see nostalgia phase of final boss) shows that either Miyazaki was running out of steam, or didn't want to release a Dark Souls game with little content like Bloodborne.

Dark Souls 3 will never be able to live up to my expecations. I'm a long running fan of the series, and imported Demon's Souls because I thought it wouldn't make it stateside.
I think honestly, the series is just losing it's luster. Demon's was incredible, and Dark Souls followed suit. Everything else has had some element that was lacking. Dark Souls 2 just felt off on everything from level design (mostly because of bonfire warp basically making level design worthless) to feeling floaty and bad, it also looks fucking horrible. Bloodborne was a bit of a return to form, but without the DLC it was severely lacking in content, and even with the DLC (60+20 = 80 bucks) it wasn't on the level of Dark Souls or Demon's Souls content wise.
Dark Souls 3 from the very little I've seen looks -better- but I think a lot of it isn't sitting well with me. I don't like the NPC's returning, and an absolute shitload of it looks straight up ripped from Bloodborne, not that that is really surprising.

Demon's has issues for sure, mostly by being unrefined. I replayed it and you need an absolutely disgusting amount of upgrade materials for most weapons. To upgrade a Purple Flame Shield to +10 you literally need like 100 hardstone shards, a bunch of other shit and 2 pure hardstone. World tendency and Character tendency are a bit strange and again, unrefined.
But it wouldn't be fair to judge Demon's on the same criteria. Demon's was an experiment. There was literally nothing else like it at the time. Dark Souls pretty much refined everything from Demon's -except- having a really lackluster final half with bad Lords Souls bosses and awkward levels.

I played both. The game is good but because its the same shit Ive played in 3 previous titles, I just cant bring myself to put it above BB. BB tried something different and was exceptional, its one of a kind, DaS3 is more of the same thing Ive played before. This isnt necassarily a bad thing but Ive played this game before I feel.

It honestly baffles me how anyone could claim that BB without the DLC is a 10/10.
The weapon variety was awful, with samey, brown/grey weapons, the armour was pointless, the areas after amelia were mostly unfun trudges, the late game bosses are so disappointing it hurts, the chalice dungeons were tedious areas like yahar'gul, byrgenwerth, nightmare frontier, castle cainhurst, nightmare of mensis, charnel lane and forbidden woods were dragged down by shit bosses and//or unrewarding, boring and long area design.
Without the DLC BB is just kind of shit

I can beat Ludwig reliably every time now even on NG+, feels fucking good. maybe one death tops but usually i first try him. kos' second form is still a bit iffy for me though, get close but it still feels a bit lucky rather than solid. last time i fought him he took 3 or 4 tires.
