>From Software's upcoming action-RPG Dark Souls 3 has scored 9/10 in the first UK review.
>Reviewed in the latest issue of EDGE, the PS4 version was praised by the reviewer for its "will-sappingly difficult" boss fights and "tightly designed" areas, but was criticised for its familiarity during the opening third.
>The game's "astonishingly handsome" world also "lacks a little of the complexity of Miyazaki and From [Software] at their best", the review states, buts its boss fights are "set in beautiful arenas and soundtracked by the finest Souls music to date".

The weapon arts don't come close to expanding the movesets the way Bloodborne's weapons did. Also it amazes me how often I would see Chalice dungeon section from BB used as a template for areas. Clearly the game was rushed thanks to being developed along side BB. The reused elements in both level design (all of Latria is used) and even boss design (see nostalgia phase of final boss) shows that either Miyazaki was running out of steam, or didn't want to release a Dark Souls game with little content like Bloodborne.

Dark Souls 3 will never be able to live up to my expecations. I'm a long running fan of the series, and imported Demon's Souls because I thought it wouldn't make it stateside.
I think honestly, the series is just losing it's luster. Demon's was incredible, and Dark Souls followed suit. Everything else has had some element that was lacking. Dark Souls 2 just felt off on everything from level design (mostly because of bonfire warp basically making level design worthless) to feeling floaty and bad, it also looks fucking horrible. Bloodborne was a bit of a return to form, but without the DLC it was severely lacking in content, and even with the DLC (60+20 = 80 bucks) it wasn't on the level of Dark Souls or Demon's Souls content wise.
Dark Souls 3 from the very little I've seen looks -better- but I think a lot of it isn't sitting well with me. I don't like the NPC's returning, and an absolute shitload of it looks straight up ripped from Bloodborne, not that that is really surprising.

Demon's has issues for sure, mostly by being unrefined. I replayed it and you need an absolutely disgusting amount of upgrade materials for most weapons. To upgrade a Purple Flame Shield to +10 you literally need like 100 hardstone shards, a bunch of other shit and 2 pure hardstone. World tendency and Character tendency are a bit strange and again, unrefined.
But it wouldn't be fair to judge Demon's on the same criteria. Demon's was an experiment. There was literally nothing else like it at the time. Dark Souls pretty much refined everything from Demon's -except- having a really lackluster final half with bad Lords Souls bosses and awkward levels.

It also has shit all for armor variety, a piss-poor excuse for 'magic,' set main-hand and off-hand weapons instead of freeform wielding, 1 level of roll + the 'nothin personnel' modifier, shitty 'no skill, no risk' parries, and more. The only kind of cool thing to come out of it are runes and weapon gems, which are just alternate versions of rings and weapon upgrade paths.

Thats perfectly fine m8, the game was just fine. But if people are expecting a real game changer this isnt it, its the same game youve played before in a different area, its no longer a hard game even because youve mastered the mechanics of the series.
Lots of build variety this time though, fully intend to make a few gimmick characters and run through the game. If thats your thing youll love it.

It honestly baffles me how anyone could claim that BB without the DLC is a 10/10.
The weapon variety was awful, with samey, brown/grey weapons, the armour was pointless, the areas after amelia were mostly unfun trudges, the late game bosses are so disappointing it hurts, the chalice dungeons were tedious areas like yahar'gul, byrgenwerth, nightmare frontier, castle cainhurst, nightmare of mensis, charnel lane and forbidden woods were dragged down by shit bosses and//or unrewarding, boring and long area design.

I honestly didn't enjoy the majority of bloodborne's soundtrack.
There were a few standout tracks like ludwig the holy blade, orphan of kos's first part, gerhman, ebrietas and micolash, and the higher production values were nice, but I just preferred dark souls 1, the themes resonated and came out in the fights a lot more for me.
The themes for Ornstein and smough, centipede demon, sif, gwnydolin/moonlight butterfly, ash lake, artorias, four kings, nito, pinwheel, gwyn and gaping dragon all resonated with me a lot more in the fights.
I haven't played ds3 yet, but I have listened to the soundtrack, and it's pretty great.

I never played BB and DeS but I always thought the bosses in DaS1 and 2 were pretty shit. Are BB bosses any different? Because the only "difficulty" from those bosses comes from their gimmicks, if you don't know them, you get fucked but if you learn how to deal with them once, you will never have a problem against those bosses again.
The only legit difficult boss was Fume Knight because his second phase had retarded damage that would instakill me from full life since I played the whole game in the CoC. So learning his gimmick didn't really help.

BB bosses have multiple phases, can't get 1-shot, have multiple avenues of victory (weak-point stagger, parry, slash, BSes), and employ game mechanics properly.
Dark Souls bosses have often paltry HP, single phases, and either outright ignore mechanics (BSes) or get broken by them (see: Gwyn).
Also, all the games let you mash R1. The only difference is BB gives you other buttons to use and Dark Souls doesn't. Dark Souls great weapon movesets are so bad that they're exclusively not worth using 1-handed.
Also, BB weapons have great gimmicks that make them unique (Boomhammer and Stake are the modal, unique options from Parasite/Claw complete with unique movement options).

You saying the bosses are iconic doesn't mean fuckall objectively. They're worse mechanically and there is no offense whatsoever; you literally smash R1 when they're not attacking. They're so squishy usually that they're done after a few fleuries. There's nothing going on there at all for an experienced player coming off Demon's Souls. Going back and replaying them is a joke because they're so 1-dimensional, I mean why bother?
Like fighting Artorias is a joke for example. What do you remember? Hit him while he's channelling and he can randomly flip up to 3 times instead of once.
Compare this to Defiled Hotdog. You have 2 moves that can one shot you but with obvious tells. You can fight in front if you want a stagger riposte, but then you have to deal with a Mich quicker frontal moveset in the later phases. Or, you can take out his legs and get some burst on him. When you take out his legs can mean a great deal if you're trying to push damage on phases.
Also, I'm not sure what "they're samey" means when there are 3 demon's that are the same boss put in the game.

Not that anon, but One Reborn actually requires you to understand game mechanics and forces you to know what you're doing. You can't just spam it down randomly because it will fuck you up with its puke. Its very simple once you understand the mechanics (limb damage), but its still better than both Nito or Seath
Both Nito and Seath are fights where the bosses can barely even hit you.
Nito has swings that go over your head 99% of the time and half the fight is spent blocking his stupid AOE spam. Hes just a health sponge, nothing more. One of the many bosses where hugging their crotch is the optimal thing to do.
Seath is just downright retardedly simple since he gets stunned for a good while after the crystal breaks, meaning you can spam him down to 50% before he even attacks. The first attack he does is always the crystal breath and again 99% of the time it misses completely, and if it hits it does so little damage its stupid.
Not to mention shit like Dark Bead or Crystal Soul Spears exist, so there you go. Shit bosses.
