The stat growth is yeah, but the part you need to care about it whether an ability scales from your attack or your magic, and yeah most if not all MA bow skills scale higher from magic so having a split damage bow is great, but they have like one or two skills that scale from your magic stat plus using them for basic attacks means the split damage comes off worse than a normal weapon.
