Rangers are generally easier to train than sorcs since they don't have long cast times and still have useful melee.
Mages can have some offensive and utility magic or just full blown buffbot.
Having 2 ranged pawns generally helps since they will stick together and cover each other.

If you're making a Strider or Ranger pawn make sure you teach them how to use different arrows. Remember your pawn learns from you're tactics.
Poison arrows are good against bandits, but stop using them once their poisoned. I'll let you figure out the uses of the others.
