if you set up your own server with a single player map uploaded, you and a friend can go through that experience, just not one that's fully integrated due to the changes in structure/code from the SP game and MP game
look up the single player map names and load them up and have a friend connect and you're good

i just tried that and the AI on the SP maps cannot be damaged by us and they cant damage us either
