Hello /V/. I finally finished ds2 a few days ago. Didn't do the docs because they were stupidly op tho. I was thinking if I should play ds1 before 3 is out? Really loved dark mage builds hope I can make one in ds1

One correction though, there is no such thing as dark damage in it. It's a kind of magic damage that hits physical as well. For example the Dark Flame is a bit weaker than Great Combustion but it has stronger poise break.

It has problems, mainly with lore and design choices but also improves on other things. It has some good ideas and some bad ideas.
People calling it outright garbage has shit taste and should never ever be taken seriously for any advice regarding what games to play, since they work in absolutes rather than "The game is okay, some stuff was great others really sucked".

Yes, do play Dark Souls 1, it's pretty good, although a flawed game.
Dark Souls III seems to be drawing a lot from Dark Souls 1 from what I can tell.
If you dig DaS1, then play Demon's Souls as well.
Don't buy a PS3 for it, it's only about 20-25-hour game but if you already have console then definitely play that as well.

Dark Souls II was very easy though. Dark Rapier + Stone ring and everything's dead within seconds thanks to stunlocks.

DaS2 definitely had problems, but I didn't find it unenjoyable. Spent a couple hundred hours exploring builds and areas(some were nice, others garbage). Some say there were problems with hitboxes but I didn't have any issues dodging despite some input lag caused by a shitty controller and a crappy monitor.
DLC areas were probably the best areas in design and presentation.

Bloodborne >/= Demon's Souls > Dark Souls 2 > Dark Souls
I'm sure some fag is going to try to call me a Sony fanboy when I don't even own a PS4 and my PS3 is ancient at this point.
Bloodborne is the pinnacle of these games and Demon's Souls is right behind it for fathering the series and just generally being a better game than either Dark Souls.
Bloodborne and Demon's Souls also focus far more on the horror elements (Bloodborne especially) which also make them superior to both Dark Souls games.
If you want to play Dark Souls 1, go for it, it's not a bad game. But if you really want to treat yourself to something great, try to get your hands on Bloodborne.
Demon's Souls, while better than both Dark Souls games, I imagine will have some people feeling like it's too "dated" in that the graphics aren't quite as good and it has less armors and weapons. Though what are there are all more unique to each other than the items in both Dark Souls games by comparison.
You know what the best thing about low level twinking is? You realize its pretty boring after a little bit, just coming in and one shooting players.
So anyone with half a brain of creativity makes a game out of it.
For example, invade world with ninja flips, use nothing but poison throwing knives, if you get hit, drop a moss and another item and leave.
Hell, some players are even appreciative of it, about 33% of my mail was thanking me for the crazy ass invasion.

I have no intentions of buying a PS4 and I can safely say that it's the best in the series.
It utilizes horror elements the most by far out of all the games.
It has an amazingly beautiful world that's very well crafted.
The combat is by far the best in the series, dashing feels so good and the overall speed is just higher than any of the other games.
Trick weapons are cool as fuck and really fun to use.
Lovecraftian horror inspiration is done very well, perhaps the best out of any game I've seen/played that tries to utilize it.

Bloodborne is obviously meant to be gothic horror, eventually transitioning into eldritch/cosmic horror. Demon's souls can barely be considered a horror game for having a character referred to as the "old one", and DaS 1/2 aren't horror games in any way

Magic users? Only a handful of spells which are limited by bullets. Have fun trying to play a pure arcane build when you burn through QS bullets using a call beyond.
Tanky characters and/or shield users? Armour is useless outside of fashion, equip load doesn't exist, different roll/dash speeds don't exist.
Let's be honest here. The game does one playstyle really well, which I'm crediting it for. Besides that, however, there really isn't much variety. It gets old quickly.

If I remember correctly some weapons like the kirkhammer and ludwig's have block frames on their running/backstep R1 attacks. I've tried them a few times and they worked, but it's something you can't really use a reactive defence like in other games. They'd get more utility IMO if they incorporated those attacks into the L2 combos.
