Well that's just simply not true. The controller itself would cost $30 at most with materials, labour and manufacturing. The PS4 itself is where Sony loses money. They make up for that loss by profit on accessories like the controller, subscriptions, Digital store and every single game that is sold gives Sony a royalty. They also make money on certification for all games for each region at 50k a pop which can add up to millions if you plan to release in many territories.
