>Psychic energy? Interpretative aspect? What the fuck?
This is actually correct. There's no traditional "demons" in SH series, just psychic power that PROJECTS one's mind's darkness out into our world as physical phenomenons.
SH2's doctor's note is the biggest proof of this, and even SH1 is all about a powerful psychic being made to project her nightmares out into open. Said character just happens to come from religious origins.

And in case someone's once again new to this PC gaming stuff: Use a program like DaemonTools Lite to mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.

Is this better option than emulating the games?
my PC ain't amazing, but I would like to replay the games. Don't have PS2 anymore, and the HD Collection apparently sucks.

>Is this better option than emulating the games?
Yes! The PC ports are old, so their system requirements are VERY low by modern standards. Even a craptop with only integrated videocard could run them just fine.
Meanwhile the PS2 emu requires a very strong, modern CPU and plenty of tweaking to work smoothly. PS1 emulation I already did over a decade ago, so that shouldn't be an issue to anyone.
>the HD Collection apparently sucks.
Oh god, it is TERRIBLE. Avoid it at all costs!
are the psp installments worth giving a shot?
>>319653414
No, they are not.
Plus AFAIK, there's only one PSP game (Origins), which was ported to PS2 as well.
I personally hate said game, a lot, since it's so clunky and a complete lore-rape to SH1 (and thus, rest of the series).
The SH:SM also got a PSP port, but it sucks ass compared to the beautiful Wii original.

If you want to maintain good memories for the series, and avoid frustration, only play the Team Silent's original games (1-4, and then pretend that the rest never happened.
Has there been anything like Silent Hill in recent years? The only game with somewhat similar feel was the Cry of Fear, which some people seem to dislike quite a bit.
Played Resident Evil Remake HD just recently, and I realized that I got an itch for old school survival horror.
I have the European version of silent hill 3. Does it have any noticeable differences compare to the American version?

Literally none. It even has an option to use 60Hz mode at the start, so no slowdown problems either (was the PAL conversion even a thing during PS2 era anyway?).
You can also enable the "Sharp" mode from options, which is pretty much an LCD Screen mode, making things a bit sharper. Okami and SH3 were the only games I know to offer these things.
That's in the PS2 version. There should be no differences with PC port.
That being said, I hope you got an CRT TV, or an older 720p TV tops. While SH games look great, the low res of the era's games may look quite horrendous on large FullHD screens.

Pretty neat, though BLOOD's overall style and gameplay doesn't quite click with SH's aesthetics.
>>319655442
The only SH game with significant differences between the versions is SH1.
