It's relevant to the setting. She's the princess of tiny village in a deserted wasteland. Her necklace/hair decor will contain gold which within the setting would be the modern day equivalent of walking around wearing a suit made out of diamonds.

The eyebrows and mouth for sad don't look sad, and maybe close the eyes for sad. There's also the thing where the eyebrows barely move for all expressions. I also heard that the bottom of the eyes rest on the line halfway of the whole head, if that makes any sense.
And the necklace and hair decs don't look metallic, so maybe put a gem on it or some shine. I thought they were cloth until you said otherwise.

Finished Kiriri route in Tokyo Necro.
You basically can't play it as a primarily yuri eroge (unlike Katahane) or as a tasteful eroge, but they've handled including a lesbian protagonist without common stupidities and it's an enjoyably hot-blooded action story.

No, there's only really one branching point, with two binary choices that lead to the 4 different routes. The story goes through Ethica's casual sexual scenes with 4 other women (2 in the common part before the branch) before she gets together with Kiriri.
But the game switches perspective frequently, so it's not just Ethica's lesbian scenes. There's a few het sex scenes along the way, including torture rape.

To be fair, a lot of Street Fighter fans don't really care about the story (and for a good reason, SF's story has always been laughable, this is the first time they're putting actual effort into it), my guess is that they wanted to release the game as soon as possible because they want players to be able to train for EVO and other tournaments
Otherwise, you get situations like Injustice GAU where the game was released really close to EVO, got into the main line-up anyways, people didn't know how to play it very well and it ended up getting booed at the finals

In case of Dragon's Dogma, pimping your pawn out for other players is the only reliable way to get a lot of RCs, aside from cheating, of course. And since Capcom pre-made pawns are shit, only hiring pawns from other players gives you any kind of advantage.

Now that I've got further, it seems like that's wrong. The writing was just kind of misleading for the sake of later reveals.
In Su's route there's no romance between her and the male protag, instead her story was about her friendship with Ilia (the main heroine). Su also had a cute date with Ethika (under weird circumstances).

Start from exe, not from Steam. The Steam version is the same as Mangagamer's version (meaning DRM free and all), but the engine seems to not like being started through Steam.
I'd assume they'll fix that, but given that this has no DRM, you can just play it from the exe. You just won't get trading-cards like that, nor will Steam register your play-time or sync your save-data.

The worst thing is for all the LIs that aren't Mercedes and Julien it's still easy to chat with with them right before Deny Salvation, but those two leave several story-quests beforehand so unless you KNOW absolutely not to do so and keep it in mind at all times you're probably gonna swing by Madeleine for some shopping at the very least at some point in between there.

You can choose sprites and voices for each of your party members. Your main party's leader will represent you during cutscenes and whatnot, but they're still just a silent protagonist, like the pokemon ones. You'll have to use your imagination.
As far as /u/ content could go, Mio here gets pretty infatuated with you, and there's also the date feature. You can go on dates with either your own party members, or certain npcs. If you go on one with another party member, the two sorta just sit there, look at each other, and say a line based on how close they are to one another. With npcs, you get proper events.

I tried maybe two of the SonoHana games before giving up due to the very reasons you stated. So I have no idea if the later games improved on it. Based on the impression I got from a Japanese review, no it doesn't get better.
Do you speak moon? These are more or less the standard when recommending games with an actual story imo, aside from lonely yuri which is very very short but fluffy.
If yes-
All age: Flowers series, Hakuisei Aijou Izonshou or the upcoming lyrical stage.
Adult: Kanojo to Kanojo to Watashi no Nanoka, Qualia series, Katahane (multiple couples, some het, one yuri)
If not-
All age: AoiShiro or lonely yuri.
You mileage may vary on the cute and fluffy.

I have been told that the SonoHana series gets better as it goes along but I disliked the first game too and haven't played any others to find out.
Play AoiShiro if you can find it, it's the most dramatic yuri game with an english translation.
Play Black Closet if you can stand the gameplay (try the demo), it's got some angst and drama and lets you choose a love interest.
Play Loren the Amazon Princess if you love cheesy fantasy cliches and don't mind RPG gameplay. Again there are several ladies you can get it on with.
Play Amaranto (if you can find it) if you want drama with a bit of fantasy and aren't too bothered by plot holes. Several lady options, many life-or-death situations.
Play Asphyxia if you like slow angst. So much angst.
Play 'The Sad Story of Emmeline Burns' because it's not that sad and it's free.

Based on your thoughts on Aoishiro, it should fall under subtext. While Akaiito doesn't have any explicit kisses, I do find that their relationship requires no explicit statements (I love you as opposed to "daisuki") and explicit actions (like kissing) to affirm them. They're desperate to save one another. Desperate to be together. Desperate to see each other happy. Do you really need them to spell it out for you? It was enough for me, strangely more so than Aoishiro despite having less "fake" kisses.
Plus, there's no crappy ending where they suddenly declare them best rivals or some shit. That was the most frustrating part of Aoishiro. For them to go a bit further only to backpaddle somewhat in the endings.

Yeah, that's a good way to say it. You can interpret Tsuzura and Nozomi's routes in a non-romantic way, but things like Uzukicommitting suicide over failing to protect Kei, Sakuya'sKei-becomes-an-oniend or Yumei's lovey-dovey household antics (and nosebleed drinking) can't be taken as anything but pure love.

That might be why it's dissonant. If you want to make it work, you could try a more rounded or sharper variant of the hime cut that is seen in Satsuki or arguably Saeko Busujima.
