i've never been a big Confidential-watcher but I vividly remember the episode about Parting of the Ways with the construction of the Dalek Emperor and the comparison to its classic series counterpart. That was pretty cool. Motivated me to take a look at the classic series. Heavy disappointment though when I found out that the only episode with the emperor was missing from the archives.

This is from the Doctor Who exhibition in Cardiff

>During the section of the story when visitors are on a Dalek spaceship, the resident new Paradigm Daleks are attacked by an army of their bronze cousins. In the exchange that follows, the bronze Daleks claim that they are actually the purer genetic stock, having been spawned from the DNA of Dalek creator Davros himself (as revealed in 2008 series finale Journey’s End).

>To quote the Daleks in the exhibition:

>Bronze Dalek leader: "We are the children of Davros! The new Dalek Paradigm is false! We are the one true master race!"
New Paradigm Dalek leader: "We are superior. We were created to ensure the purity of the Dalek race. You are inferior. You will be exterminated!"

>Bronze Dalek leader: "This is war! Exterminate!"

>New Paradigm Daleks: "The rebel Daleks are attacking!"

I thought this was excellent. Both Ace and Benny had plenty to do, The Scourge were a fascinating enemy, and the pacing was spot on. If I have any quibbles it's that the resolution is a little too "muh power of love"-ish, but it made sense and worked in the context of the story. What does the rest of /who/ think?

On a similar note, when should I start branching out into BF's other ranges? Is there a certain point I should do that, or does it not matter?

Yank here. I'm not a teen or a girl, so I can't speak from either o those viewpoints, but from the other fans I know he's been generaly well received. He doesn't have anyone fawning over him like Tennant or Smith does, but no one hates him either. Most classic Who fans really like him and think he's more of a return to form. I think that he'll be much better without Clara stealing the spotlight in every episode, so I'm excited to see how he is in S10.
>>
>>71147390
What do you mean by branching out? You mean the other Who ranges or the non Who ranges? I've been dipping around the Who stuff at random except for 8 and War which I'm listening to in order. I'm wanting to give the Blake's Seven range a listen but I'm holding out for it to be on sale.

I've heard the David Warner unbounds. They were pretty good. I'm a bit biased though because I'm a big David Warner fan.
>>
>>71147517
Yeah I understand he's more in keeping with tradition, but as far as I've seen it the show has evolved and its biggest audience now is foreigners who just love that English charm of a good-looking-but-in-a-slightly-weird-way actor. I'd have thought Capaldi might damage that appeal a bit, even though he's a good actor.

You never learn. I'm tired of your idiocy, I'm leaving to McGann forever.

I was concerned that Capaldi's accent might be a bit of an issue for the colonials.

Won't make any difference to ordinary people whatever the result of the ref result.

Brexit might result in some very, very rich people getting even richer, but that's about all.

I'm not even going to bother voting. Banks rule the world anyway.

I think Who has reached a level of popularity here in the states that it doesn't really matter who they cast in the role, people will watch. Keep in mind that there are plenty of older fans who watched it on PBS back in 70s-80s who are grown up and watch the new series, so the fanbase isn't just teeny-boppers who wanna get off to young actors. Just remember that S9 had the highest ratings for any Who season ever on BBCA.

Then there's the autistic sperglords such as myself that will forever be enslaved to this show.

>>71147863
Good, we need someone monitoring the place.

>>71147874
Mu girlfriend complained about being unable to uinderstand him in S8, but had no such issue during S9. It's really just a matter of getting used to it.

I think it's because of the reception to this audio that Big Finish shied away from using New Adventure-elements in their audios for so long.

Just had a quick google. Maybe not as many as crushed on Tennant & Smith, but there's a fair few female/ gay fans that crush on Capaldi.

Yeah he's older, but he's certainly got fans.
>>
Okay, so, maybe Fear Her is quite terrible. The pre credits scene already feels rushed and over acted especially with the old woman.
However, I do still enjoy the TARDIS joke of landing in a place where the doors don't open.
>>

Imagine Moff getting away with that shit.

I think back then most Doctor Who fans were so grateful to RTD bringing the show back, he was forgiven for almost anything.

Finished Fear Her, had actually forgotten how bad it was and I'd forgotten how annoying The Doctor and Rose were together towards the end of series 2.
However, I still think the drawing of the father coming to life is a scary concept and kinda handled alright.
Moving onto the Twin Dilemma, never seen this before, is it as bad as people say?
>>
>>71150914
It's not as bad as people say, keeping in mind that people say it is the most atrocious piece of shit ever televised. It's not as bad as that.

If you basically just go in expecting to be mesmerised by Six's ridiculousness you might even be entertained.
But then you remembered that this aired straight after The Caves of Androzani without even a season break inbetween...
>>
>>71150914
>Moving onto the Twin Dilemma, never seen this before, is it as bad as people say?
No, but it does have awful parts.
>>
>>71150695
Erm. 2016 Xmas would then be ep 1 of s10.

s11 starts when Chinball takes over as head writer spring 2017.

Moff (and let's be honest the fans too) wanted a Malcom Tucker-ish Doctor. Kids didn't like the 'darker' Doc, altho adults did, so Moff went lighter. Unsurprisingly.

>Kids didn't like the 'darker' Doc, altho adults did, so Moff went lighter. Unsurprisingly.
Alternatively to this confirmation bias fantasy, the staff of the show (including Peter) made the completely logical decision to evolve his Doctor so he wasn't the same thing two years in a row.
Resulting in series 9 having moments far 'darker' than anything we saw in series 8 as well as moments of greater levity. Almost as if his character became more complicated.
>>
>>71151867
Have just realized Eccleston was in Jude with Kate Winslet. One of my all time fave films.
>>
Reminder s10 might be 13 eps like seasons used to be
>>
>>71151975
Is there any evidence for that?
>>
>>71151120
No, it goes like this:
Xmas 2016 (1 ep)
Series 10 Spring 2017 (12 eps by Moffat)
Xmas 2017 (1 ep by Moffat)
So we have 14 eps. Then:
Series 11 Spring 2018 (by Chinballs)
>>
Sorry, guys. I won't be able to do the final /who/nger games today. Maybe tomorrow!
>>
