I thought that this was excellent. I really enjoyed Evelyn in this story, which is good considering I didn't really like her in The Marian Conspiracy. I thought she served more of a purpose than 'lol chocolate' here. It's also always nice to see the Brigadier.

I really enjoyed Sancreda as a monster and thought the whole idea of his race was pretty cool. Not to mention how brutal he was.

What if Lucas is just a disemodied head like Dorium? It seemed like he and Hydroflax could both survive fine without the robot body.

Also how do they do the effect for a literal talking head? Just wrap the actor in a greenscreen curtain with his face poking out the top?

Ah, forgot about you. Up to 11. The Apocalypse Element. I hear it's not so great, hence why I probably haven't continued listening, since the previous wasn't too good. Enjoying Big Finish though, and I've also listened to Technophobia
>>
>>70835642
Of course, can't believe I missed the connection.
>>
>>70835642
Oh, I have no idea about the writer. I don't usually pay attention to the writers names.
I have just googled, and it appears you are correct! These stories all have a common denominator - they're all written by a man called Gareth Roberts.

That man truly has a talent! Great episodes. Genuinely the only 10/10 stories I've seen. And they got CHRIS CHIBNALL to be showrunner? Why?
>>
>>70835659
Yeah, AE is definitely a backdoor pilot for Dalek Empire rather than being too fussed about the Doctor or (especially) Evelyn. Romana's really good in it though.
>>
>>70835805
Isn't Genocide Machine the start of Dalek Empire, with this being part 2, Mutant Phase part 3, and Time(?) of the Daleks being 4th?

I quite enjoyed the Genocide Machine, so was hoping this would be good. At least it has based Romana, might listen to a part or 2 tonight.

How much of the main range do you own also?

What about Spectrox? I remember that it kept the user youthful, but did it come with a euphoric kick? I don't think it did, but otherwise Caves was a clever jab at weapons and drug running by government entities in the 80's.

Yeah same. I really enjoyed Series 9 and think it would have been a nice end point. Seems like he only did S10 because Chibnall was busy on Broadchurch S3 and there would have been no one to write a new series yet. Hope S10 doesn't feel like Who on auto pilot like S7.

Nothing off topic about a legitimate question about a showrunner, or a follow up question asking to clarify the answer.

I for one am glad they didn't pick a writer who was known for insanely good episodes this time. The stuff he's written from what I've seen walked the line between camp and stupidity, without fully succumbing to either. Seems like a good, fun choice. At least I hope that'll be the case.

What brand of pizza was it? Or did you make it yourself?

I don't know what brand but it did come out of a box.

Just finished the drink, folks.

decided to go with two slices of bread instead of the crackers.

good choice so far.
>>

Was it good?

>>70851954
Digiorno is good. Amy's Pizza is pretty good too. By the way, don't let the pizza defrost before putting it in. I used to ignore that for years but keeping it in the freezer while the oven preheats before putting it in really makes the crust better. Also get a pizza stone too.

Update on Emmy ballots.

BBC America's entries for lead actor in a drama series are Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who), Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Aiden Turner (Poldark).

Surprisingly, they haven't entered Benedick Cucumber (Sherlock), Idris Elba (Luther) or Ben Wishaw (London Spy).

If I had a dish washing machine, it might be different, but I just don't like being a lazy ass about it.

I like shit to be clean and it's easier to do it all before crap gets caked on, water gets putrid and whathaveya.

Oh I see. I have a dish washer so I just put the stuff in at the end of day and take it out in the morning.

I'm really looking forward to a time in the future when we can finally near all the nitty gritty details of exactly what went down during Moff's tenure, rather than speculation

What makes you expect we'll ever know?
>>
>>70854012
I'll hunt him down and make him spill the beans myself.

Being currently employed by the bbc, be obviously cannot say anything they don't want him to say or he risks being fired. Once he's no longer employed perhaps he will mention things in interviews, or hopefully write a book or something.
>>
>>70854071
I wonder if he'd ever reveal any episodes he thought didn't turn out as well as he hoped or thought were bad or something. I remember he said Beast Below and Victory were bad episodes in a Toby Hadoke interview for Big Finish.
>>
>>70854071
I expect he'll still want to work for BBC after. And in general people seem very reluctant to share info like this. It sucks because I love hearing about stuff like this too. I wish people in the industry could speak their minds, like ole Larry.
>>
>>70853956
>>70854012
>>70854071
I'd pay to read the nitty gritty of what happened during production of s6/7.

Also, it was around that time the Moff hate campaign seriously ramped up.
>>
>>70852714
We already knew about Peter.
>>
>>70854249
I'd pay to see a reality TV show about it. They would've caught the YOURE ERASED FROM DOCTOR WHO on camera and everything.
>>
>>70854208
>like ole Larry
and that's the reason why he's not in the industry anymore.

Moffat is 54 now, the age of retirement in england is 65, so I guess we won't be seeing juicy details until in ten years time, earliest.
>>
>>70854271
Oh, OK.
>>
>>70854325
>>70854208
what if we found out he tried to do his best but circumstances made it difficult?

will we apologise?
>>
>>70854371
>will we apologise?
No. Because personally, my problems are mostly with his style. I'm sure it's a tough job though.

>>70854346
If you're interested in writing, I'd say it is.
>>
>>70854371
>>70854420
Wasn't there supposed to be a 4th series with Matt Smith? But the Beeb cancelled one, and instead spread s6/7 over 3 years.

Moff had planned the Silence/ Crack in time arcs presuming this in advance. Then was forced to massively alter and edit scripts.
>>
>>70854119
Yeah he says Beast Below was his worst episode.

Barry Letts, Terrance Dicks and Phillip Hinchcliffe are all pretty open about what they thought was a good idea and what they thought was shit.
>>
>>70854949
I read the split in S6 was Moffat's idea to give him more time and then BBC requested it for S7 for some reason? Idunno. It's all just speculation really.
>>
>>70854949
Honestly, the first time I've heard that was like two days ago on /who/
>>
>>70855040
The split for S7 was a horrible idea. I understand people who say Clara had no character development because there was no time to give her any in S7 - Moff had to set up a companion exit, into, a 50th special, a regeneration, tie up loose ends, introduce a new doctor... He had a lot on his plate so Clara didn't get the attention she might have otherwise got
>>
>>70855109
Yeah Moffat said in the recent DWM "I didn't enjoy my third year as much. It was a bit miserable" and I remember him once saying that when Matt decided to leave too along with Karen/Arthur he felt like he was losing his best friend and didn't he think he could keep doing the show without him.
>>
>>70855109
There was also S3 of Sherlock.
>>
