Was Goldeneye and Casino Royale the best bond movies?
no.
>>70431046
On her majesty's secret service
>inb4 muh one hit bond
>>70431067
Why?
Definitely up there. I think From Russia With Love might be the best.
Got a lot of time for the Dalton movies as well.
>>70431113
just kidding, they are and Skyfall too.
Probably not, you just remember Goldeneye fondly because you're an insufferable le 90s kid who worships the video game, and because Casino Royale revitalized the franchise and was so much better than the previous couple of movies.
I'd be lying if I said those weren't my two favorite though.
>>70431046
Goldeneye was good but Casino Royale i thought was much better
>craig
>bond
>>70431576
youre not me!
>>70431113
because others are better
>>70431046
Goldeneye was great. When Bond drives that tank through the wall and the theme kicks in...fucking joyful cinema.
>>70431046
Yes.
Casino Royale because of the intro alone.
>>70432155
>Cast as the fictional British secret agent James Bond in October 2005, his first film in the role, Casino Royale, was released internationally in November 2006.

Even without the tank scene it's one of the best bond movies.
>>70431046
No.
Dr No and OHMSS were.
>>70431695
GoldenEye has aged really well.

>reminder that plebs will never realize how Craig captured the tone of the books fantastically, especially Casino Royale
>>70431046
What makes Casino and GoldenEye so good is that it isnt action scene after action scene as what QoS was.
It has a slowish second act yes but we get lots of character development and a rich plot
>>70432906
Fucking this
Casino Royale was honestly the best Bond film since the Connery era
>>70432906
t. pleb
From Russia with Love is undoubtedly the greatest 007 movie. If you contest this you are a giant fucking pleb.
It has the perfect combination of good dialogue, location, it's one of the few bond films that actually deals with espionage, and it has great action scenes that aren't over the top like GoldFinger was.
It was basically real James Bond before he became a huge action movie hero with Goldfinger. I still like Goldfinger but From Russia is still the GOAT.
>>70432902
It's decent, has its moments. Definitely better than Octopussy
>>70432837
he's probably just mad his bond isn't """"fun"""" anymore. ignore the redditors.

>>70432906
Casino Royale is the only movie that follows one of the books page by page yes but all of us oldfags grew up with the gadget error.
THAT is the past that we know and will always be remembered as the golden era. But Craig's Bond is still cool.
why are craigfags so obnoxious?

>>70433136
I still own the cassette soundtrack
I tried watching The Spy Who Loved Me the other day and had to give up on it. It was just the same shit over and over: Bond goes to meet guy, guy is about to be murdered/ has been murdered / hired someone to murder him, action sequence ending with shitty one-liner, repeat from step one.
>>70433157

>>70433187
I think it's okay, but the pacing is pretty bad and Barbara Bach can't act worth a shit, her "Russian" accent comes and goes too
Even so, it sounds like you just don't enjoy the Bond formula, for which I pity you
>>70433205
I like Lea a bit more but Olga still was top-tier.
Gemma was also great.
>>70433359
That's entirely possible. I've been trying to get into the series, and I really did like Dr. No, but maybe that was just a one-off deal.
I have nothing against action sequences and cheesy zingers, but when your entire film is nothing but that (or at least, the first hour since I can't vouch for the second half) it just gets trite.
>>70433284
>They're less obnoxious than the petty Bond "experts" that somehow feel like they think they know what Bond should drink or how much chest hair he has.
How so? Anything is better than craigfags who sperg out whenever anyone has an opinion that differs from their own

>Goldfinger
>You Only Live Twice
>On Her Majesty's Secret Service

James Bond should never be in space.
>>70433650
Roger Moore's best IMO. Incredibly dumb in many ways, but also one hell of a roller coaster ride and infinitely rewatchable. Not to mention that Hugo Drax is a god-tier villain
>>70433715
>James Bond should never be in space.
But anon, what if they're still making 007 movies when space travel is commonplace?
Eventually it would start to get weird that he WASN'T in space.

Casino Royale
Quantum of Solace
Skyfall

Not a big bond fan, but goldeneye is probably my favorite.
Some of the old ones are quite good from what I remember. All the new ones suck ass. Just doesn't feel like bond movies.
>>70433885
TWINE, Quantum and Spectre are objectively bad movies.

>PEW PEW PEW

>Skyfall
>Spectre
Those aren't worth watching at all. Especially spectre, wtf is wrong with you.

Quantum is only okay.
>>70434096
They are. You may not like them, but they are well made films and are not complete dogshit like a lot of the this franchise's films are (A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, etc).
>>70434096
Skyfall was ok
Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace are the worst Bond movies.

>>70434299
Fantastic Cinematography, weak story.
If you have a short attention span you'll be bored. But that's the movie's fault.
Cinematography alone is what makes it worth it. It's also rather funny.
7/10 for me. Skyfall was much better.
>>70434209
I enjoyed die another day better than skyfall, because it actually feels like a bond movie.
>>70434414
ok. Enjoy the "silly" and "over-the-top" bond that Ian Fleming would be disgusted by.
>>70431046
yes
>>70434209
The costume design in Skyfall was /fa/ as fuck
>>70434299
Spectre might actually be the worst bond movie ever made. It tries to reintroduce older, campy villains, but does this completely straight-faced. Waltz was completely miscast and wasted on this movie. The plot is extremely boring "dangers of the digital age" dreck.
>>70434590
Die Another Day was much worse.
-Live and Let Die is awesome because it's so weird
-On Her Majesty's Secret Service because of goat ending
-Skyfall because it looks gorgeous
-Casino Royale because that Vesper
-For Your Eyes Only because of pistachios
>>70434521
I couldn't care less about what Fleming would think, I've actually tried to read the books but I can't stand his prose.
>>70434665
Die Another Day was great.
>>70434724
Was that the one with the fucking space laser? That was pretty bad too.
>>70434759
That's the one.
I loved it, because it was the most stupid one by a long shot.
>>70434665
DaD was over the top, had flaws, but was still enjoyable. Spectre has nothing enjoyable, except for nice cinematography.
>>70434682

>>70433284
Nobody's ever argued over how much chest hair Bond should have. The important thing is that he has chest hair because he's a man's man, unlike Craig who looks like a little girl.
>>70435734
That's not the reason Craig is a bad Bond.
Craig is just a thug in a suit, it doesn't fit the idea of the character.

That's the main reason, sure, but there are countless others.

The movies are hackneyed cash grabs manufactured to appeal to Baby Boomers.
They made bond into a needlessly silly character and raped Fleming's artistic vision.

Fleming is an awful writer, vague about important scenes which make it difficult to discern what is happening, and needlessly descriptive about shit that we don't care about like someone's cuff-links or how sweaty they are.
That aside, the books are the books and the movies are the movies. People who bash films because they aren't similar enough to the books? Autism

Also it's pure speculation, unless you claim to be able to speak to the dead. I've read the books, and at no point did I feel like Craig embodies the literary character

>>70438391

>>70438391
I have, and while the plot follows the book more-or-less, Craig's take on the character isn't particularly similar to the Fleming version. Appearance aside, Craig acts like just another American action hero, the sophistication and fastidiousness of Fleming's Bond just isn't there.
At least with previous film versions of Bond they usually tried to have scenes where he displays how cultured he is, like determining the age and brand of a certain scotch. Craig's Bond, in contrast, drinks Heineken and hangs out on the beach to show off his muscles.
I can only imagine the mental gymnastics it requires to actually make yourself believe that Fleming would like Daniel Craig
