If you liked Friends you're a fucking pleb, and the show has aged horribly. Seinfeld is the Patrician's choice and the humor is timeless.

I'll be the first to say I don't really care for Friends, but how has it aged horribly?

In an age of single camera comedies the very loud and far too frequent laugh track really stands out. Also similar and newer shows - Happy Endings for example - completely blow Friends out of the water.
Friends, if you're a woman or a homosexual.
If you're someone with a sense of humor Seinfeld is the obvious choice.

Not in Fraiser or Seinfeld. Let's be honest, the only reason those shows are shot in that style is because that's how all network comedies were. The laughtracks were much quieter, over quicker, and only hit on actual goddamn jokes.

Snyder movies are essentially saying something. They have social commentary or tackle philosophical ideas. Generally when you tackle those kinds of ideas you are putting a part of your viewpoint into the film, thus giving it "soul". Whether you think he does this well or not doesn't change the fact it's there.
By comparison, Nolan films don't do this, they are purely focused on having a intricate plot, but not really tackling any themes or grander ideas.
SIX FLAGS VS GREAT AMERICA
SNYDER VS ROTTEN TOMATOES
LETTERMAN VS LENO
>>68082128
Not only that, they would rewrite the show on the spot, making the audience sit there until they figured out what the punchline should be.
>>68083503

>>68083691
Nah, both Nolan and Snyder (and any basic filmmaker with point of view) do that. Nolan is just less grandiose about it. Nolan seems to care more about plot though. Snyder seems to care more about making images that look cool above all else.
>>68086855
>Snyder seems to care more about making images that look cool above all else.
How's the pleb life treatin' ya?
>>68086855
I think someone in Snyder's corner cares about plot more than we think. Lex's plan was actually solid action/thriller tier, complete with political shenanigans and all.
>>68085583
>>68086855
I disagree.
None of the Nolans batman movies had a point beyond the plot. Meanwhile man of steel and batman v superman seem to be trying to analyze how society would react to someone like superman, rather than changing human behavior to fit the plot.
Same deal with inception or the prestige, there's very little going on thematically or analytically wise. Interstellar tried but didn't really work. I haven't seen memento so can't comment on that. I like Nolan's films but I'm not going to pretend they're something they aren't, or dismiss Snyders films through any bias.
The problem is both of them suffer from a common problem, lack of attention to detail with editing and script which often leaves their movies somewhat more confusing than they should be.
>>68087001
They're there at times, like when the Joker psychoanalyzes the shit out of the Batman in the interrogation room, but with Nolan, that's about as far down the rabbit hole as it gets,
>>68087001
Just because Snyder explicitly mentions deeper ideas and themes on the surface of his movies doesn't make them deeper or even interested in exploring any of that.
Nolan does a similar thing where he presents ideas that seem deep on the surface but are only serve a purpose for the plot. I think we generally agree on both of them, although I think you might be giving Snyder more credit because he tends to make the "deeper" themes of his films more explicit.
>>68087121
The entirety of Man of Steel and BvS have a through-line delving into the meaning of heroism and how to be inspirational without becoming an object of worship. Hope and faith(in humanity). and trust are huge players, too, as well as a heaping helping of facing the consequences of your actions, both good and bad.

And then they were friends again?

>ctrl+f Frasier

1 diamond of sense in a thread of shit.
>>68087351
You can argue that the same can be said of the Batman trilogy. Although, instead more of an exploration of the power of an idea (the fear a bat instills) and what it means to be a hero versus just a vigilante. Its pretty present throughout each movie and even ends on that theme in the last movie.
>>68087498
That's a valid point, but Snyder's are still reaching a point of resolution and one of the themes is barely even hinted at verbally, although it's on full display visually, although the majority of people seem to miss what it's there to convey.
BLUR VS OASIS
>>68081984
I think a problem with friends is that it had a lot of subplots and now in retrospect they just eat up time for the show unless you don't know how it turns out and watch them in the order that they were broadcast.
where as Seinfeld you can watch random repeats and the show still works
