When will there be a doctor who Rashomon-style episode?
>>64025616
How did the finale bingo turn out, out of interest?
I thought it was ridiculous but then watching the episode was like an overwhelming tide of "holy shit, /who/ was right."
>>64025616
River outsmarts or intellectually shames the Doctor in a tenuous/unbelievable way.
>>64025501
Explain?

You're the pleb.

>>64025916
Fuck off
>>64025836
Just to clarify, one example of this was when River piloted the TARDIS better than the Doctor and complained about the parking brake being left on causing the "wheezing" sound and it made no sense other than to just be River being a perfect Mary Sue one-upping the Doctor with no real explanation. I was just trying to convey the general idea, I'm sure there's a better way to word it.
>>64025916
So close.
>>64025992
Would "River one-ups the doctor" work?

>>64025992
I get what you mean.
Even broadly, "River upstages the Doctor" might work.
Probably in public.
>>64026042
Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Upstage was the word I couldn't think of. Thanks.
Anything need replacing?
>>64025938

you're not fooling anyone pal
>>64026037
She smokes though. Why hide it?
Only Catherine Tate was the non smoker out of all the new-who companions.
>>64026216
I'm almost certain tate has smoked at some point though, most actors usually have as part of a role
>>64026182
I just noticed "sex jokes" is where the free space would normally be. Absolutely perfect.
>>64025693
>>64025910
She's too clever and too important. It's irritating. To be fair, RTD is the one that started that shit with the companions but Moffat took it even further and went full retard. He made Clara the most important companion the Doctor has ever fucking had.

The wording of this one's a little odd, might be worth changing it to 'legitimately funny joke'

Hey, /who/ what are some good Fifth and Sixth Doctor audios?
Regardless of what you think of Clara, what did you think of Face the Raven/Heaven Sent/Hell Bent more generally? Possibly my favorite "plot-essential" episodes in all of Nu-Who so far.
I particularly liked the "missing streets" bit, and the characterization of Twelve. He really is my favorite Doctor.
>>64029572
Face The Raven was pretty good.
Heaven Sent was GOAT literally best episode of NuWho
Hell Bent was disappointing like all finales but wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be imo.

Rate my taste in Doctors (characters, not series):

I haven't watched enough of any others to rank them.
>“This could be my final year,” said Capaldi during an interview with Telegraph. “It’s terrifying. I love Doctor Who but it can be quite an insular world and I do want to do other things. There will come a time when this is over. But I knew that when I started. I was thinking about my regeneration scene from the outset. That’s my terrible melancholic nature. When you accept the job you know there will come a day, inevitably, when you’ll be saying goodbye.”

>>64029810
>10 and 11 over 9

>>64029890
Yeah, they're all great, and 9/10/11 were all close in my mind.
I almost put 10 > 11 = 9, but I dunno. I like when 10 goes cold/scary like at the end of his debut episode with "No second chances. That's the kind of man I am." And then the end of the Family of Blood episodes.
>>64029678
I already jumped the gun and bought Creatures of Beauty, Jubilee, and The Fires of Vulcan.

>>64025616

I realize I'm late and you probably already filled it, but seriously with the way last series was I think the Christmas special will be Feast of Steven 2: The Feast of Steven Moffat.
>>64030376
Beautifully.
Does the doctor know he's in a TV show? if he did, wouldn't that cheapen his emotional attachment to anything that happens
>>64030549
I think there was a comic where the 11th Doctor traveled to our universe and met Matt Smith. Shit sounds fucking retarded.
>>64030549
Perhaps he knows there's an alternate universe out there in which his life is viewed as a TV show, but his world is still just as real to him as ours is to us.
>>64030600
good thing it's not canon
>>64030470
Excellent. Hopefully I will get to listen to them in-between being yelled at for last minute directions and howling dogs.
Let's say Companion A dies. The Doctor sees her die, which we're told "locks it in." But in reality, all that should be locked in is that he saw the image of her dying.
Why can't he rescue her and replace her with a hologram to deceive his own past self, thereby ensuring that his past self does everything that lead to him eventually rescuing her (thereby avoiding paradox)?
This may not work with Clara because of the raven and everything, admittedly, but in other cases, it should.
>>64030617
But what if our life isn't canon in the Whoniverse?
>>64030817
Why not just travel with the hologram?
>>64030817
Stop trying to use Moffat's hackery in other situations.
Things are locked in as he wants them to be locked in and ambiguous when he wants them to be, there's no logic to it
>>64030904
it's not
I don't remember cibberymen rising up out of graves last year
>>64030920
Because it wouldn't be sentient? I'm talking about basically ultra-realistic Gallifreyan CGI.
>>64030931
Yeah, that's the impression I get. It just makes sense to me that if the reason a thing can't change is because you already experienced it, then really all that can't change is your experiencing of it.
It makes sense that if the event (say, the death of a loved one) that provoked me to go back in time (to try and save them) were prevented, I wouldn't go back in time (and thus it wouldn't be prevented, which would mean I would go back in time, which would mean it would...). So there is a paradox there.
But if I can trick my past self, wouldn't I be able to avoid that paradox?
>>64030931
but thats every doctor who story
>>64031018
>But if I can trick my past self, wouldn't I be able to avoid that paradox?
Yes, hence the hack episode Wedding of River Song and even Doctor not dying at Trenzalore
>>64031119
When you use it like Moffat does, it's just being a hack
>>64030817
I think the Doctor knows he will outlive everyone he travels with, he can prolong life but sooner or later he will have to move on. I think depending on circumstance he might take things a bit far to save his friends like with Clara, but all in all he appreciates the time he spent with them and is glad he at least got that opportunity.
I think it was an 8h Doctor audio where he or someone compared his companions to a skull humans used as a memento mori, someone to remind him how precious life is and to remind himself that he is mortal as well.
>>64031018
I suppose I was thinking of a Red Dwarf style hologram, mainly in that everything down to the original person's memories and personality is copied.

Has anyone else been seeing random Doctor Who hate? I haven't experienced much since this week, and maybe since the 90s when people were hating on Star Trek. Now I guess its cool to like Trek. Maybe its just because kids are off school? Star Trek and Star Wars is pleasing enough people they have to find something else to pick on? Fuck these goddamn people. Its my favorite TV show. Been looking up Doctor who here for a few months and haven't seen actual hate of the show till now. I pretty much assumed nobody cared and it was relatively peaceful and joking. I hope this isn't a trend.
Saying Clara is the worst companion is pretty hilarious. Everyone knows its Martha. She only had one season to herself. They took her from medical student to general of the universe. Clara was awesome. She has the cutest face I've ever seen on TV and sort of stole the show from Capaldi and Smith on occasion.

The only way I can justify it is people are getting fatigued. Bringing back Gallifrey, with all the mess to follow and all the previous arc antics.
>>64035654
bringing back gallifrey wasn't a bad thing, and being mad it wasn't the focus of the episode despite the episode establishing that the doctor didn't care anymore and had other priorities is pretty autistic
>>64035748
>Gallifrey is tucked into another dimension, frozen in time. It's a big deal that they want to use a soft spot in fabric of time to return

>>64035777

hidden at the end of the time, which the doctor spent 4.5 billion years getting to
>>64035935
'Cause you know, it's not like he does have a time machine known to take him even furter. And that he used later to get back without effort.
>>64036052
it wasn't that the doctor couldn't find gallifrey, it's that he didn't really want to until he had to
>>64036083
Yes, but it wasn't the case before. Only one Christmas special ago, Gallifrey was trying to break through and needed Doctor for it.
Moffat can't keep his story straight. It's not just a traiwreck, it's a controlled flight into terrain, despite departing on a train.

>>64036735
Surely it was the Never sphere/Missy
>>64036763
There were multiple facets to it, the missy stuff was just foreshadowing of the finale but the real meat was clara and the doctor's relationship which culminated with them becoming so similar that they both lied to the other in an attempt to make them happy when they were both really lonely

We all know that the game would never be good enough
Either they only focus on nuwho and insult the classics, or they take fuck all from all doctors and give an underwhelming game.
Personally, my ideal doctor who Lego game is:
>minimum 3 stories from each doctor playable in campaign (first, most widely loved bar regen, regen story)
>can collect tardis interior parts throughout the game, some purely aesthetic, like the column or railing or walls, some functional like weapons for minigames or things to help fly through the vortex. Sonic parts also collectable to modify yours
>each doctor's opening titles redone in Lego form, which play at the start of their story and all doctors middle 8s play during these
>can select 2 companions for each doctor, all companions selectable
>free play includes the death zone, monsters fought in the campaign end up here after their episode is completed
>all costumes for all doctors available
>edas used for 8s middle episode
> war doc has good stuff with gallifrey councils
>only dlc is complete stories for doctors, doesn't give any form of advantage in the form of collectables, merely adds entertainment
>each doctor is voiced by their actor where possible, as much of an effort to craft audio out of 1, 2, 3, and maybe 9s stories, no imitations

I have a feeling the fanbase would go mental with it and we'd see some god tier stories out there.
>>64038168
Not sure. I believe the rest of S9 was on iview as soon as
you're better off just torrenting it, if you don't have the special box attached to your TV they don't count you as part of the ratings figures, and the ABC is a non profit channel so you're not cheating them out of ad money
