I didn't mind last year's finale, i was expecting gallifrey and didn't get it, and it was a bit weird to have cybermen mixed with Time Lord tech, but otherwise I found it really enjoyable and I think it was a better farewell for Clara and the Doctor than any of the faux passed we've had afterwards.

I fucking hate anyone who parrots this shit. Yet I have to hand it to Moffat that he managed to convince everyone of an excuse for his fucking lazy writing.
The worst part of all of this is that they could have had a much better episode making full use of gallifrey and still having Clara sueness. Have Rassilon and the sisterhood try to convince the doctor to exile himself from Gallifrey, or even kill himself, because he's the hybrid, in exchange for Rassilon using his mastery of time travel and the sisterhood their revival potions things in order to save Clara. There you go, plenty of opportunity for dialogue between the characters, to get answers for long standing questions and see more of Gallifrey, while the central conflict is still about Clara.
