Being honest, that pet was fully customized, and a different colour, when I first saw it; I saw it on Notable Neopet while at the front page.

oh also most sites give you a shell account to use with your purchase, so you could just neofriend the shell account, and set up a private trade between you and the shell for your items after you wait a couple days. If they suspect anything, it'll likely be the shell account, but even then, neopets is fine with most people having more than 1 account as long as they don't abuse the dailies.

Food Club isn't actually a good way to get NP for new accounts. The amount you can bet (and therefore the amount that you can get back) increases each day, so it only really starts becoming worthwhile once your account is a few years old. Aside from that:
- Do all the dailies.
- Poke around the games room and find out which games you can reach the maximum amount of NP on quickly and reliably, and do those as dailies.
- Get Ghoul Catchers on your phone and grind the first level to get up to 50k a day.
- Basic jobs at the Faerieland Employment Agency. Once you get the hang of it, you can pull in 20-30k a day pretty easily. (Don't bother with job coupons, they aren't worth it.) Guide here: http://www.jellyneo.net/?go=employment
- Train your pet up a bit and start doing the BD and sell your loot.
As for the BD, you gotta start with training. There are three schools: the Swashbuckling Academy (on Krawk Island, courses paid in Dubloons, can only train up to level 40 there), the Mystery Island Training School (takes codestones, can train up to level 250), and the Secret Ninja Training School (takes red codestones, pet needs to be a MINIMUM of level 250 to train there.) For a beginner, I recommend the Swashbuckling Academy. It's slower than the Mystery Island school, but Dubloons are cheap as balls right now. Switch to the Mystery Island school once you feel you can afford it, or when you get sick of the longer training times. Or you can even do both at once.

Once your Strength is up to 8, HP is up to 10, and Level is up to 5, get two Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammers and a Downsize, get the Faerie abilities Static Cling (does 3 icons) and Meditate at level 5 (heals 4 HP per round for two rounds), and start pummeling the Chia Clown on easy. For an attack pattern, I recommend:
Round 1: RHBHx2 + Meditate
Round 2: RHBHx2 + Static Cling
Repeat as necessary, use Downsize if your HP gets too low, but you really shouldn't need more than 2-3 rounds. You can buy cheap healing potions (I'd say Healing Potion III or Healing Potion V) to heal outside of battle.
Don't stop there; keep training. You may or may not want to train DEF, but don't even bother with Agility because it does nothing. For upgrades to your set, Scroll of Knowledge does 2 more icons than RHBH. For defense there's Parasol of Unfortunate Demise, Patched Magic Hat, or Leaf Shield. Get the Faerie abilities An Icicle at level 25 (does 6 icons of damage) and Lens Flare at level 50 (freezes the opponent for the round) when you can. Start battling Giant Spectral Mutant Walein as soon as you're able, since it has the best distribution of loot drops overall. (You should be able to manage that by level 50 when you can access Lens Flare, if not sooner.)

Once you reach level 121, you'll be at 6-codestone courses at the Mystery Island school. And here's where the pain starts. Because 6 regular codestones are, on average, at least as expensive if not moreso than one red codestone. So at this point, the cheapest way to train is to grind Level up to 250, and then start at the Ninja school. This is a massive pain in the ass but things will actually get both cheaper and faster once you can finally start at the Ninja school.
There are other training methods, but training schools are the most reliable. Coltzan's Shrine sometimes gives stat increases, especially to low-level pets. Kitchen Quests will randomly give stat upgrades to ANY of your pets, so that's only worth it if you only have one pet. There are also stat increasers you can feed to your pet, but those are mostly pretty expensive and only become worth it at high levels. The Lab Ray is a large one-time expense, and it will increase your stats over time if you're patient enough, but it's very unpredictable and leaves your pet's Defense basically unchanged.
If you read all that, I'm kind of impressed. If you want a starter pack, post your username and I'll send some stuff to get you going.

Incidentally, regarding abilities, you may wish to consider Shade over Meditate, as it blocks 3 sets of 3 random icon types. Although, supposedly, there's some issues with it and Physical/Darkness icons, and uses your opponent's Defense boost.
For extra training, you can level up faster, with some luck and Ice Caves/Haunted Woods Scratchcards of the 2nd-lowest rarity or higher.
The Coincidence Quest can also give +10 to a random stat... or -3 to a random stat, among other results.
If you have Neocash, Faerie Quest Fortune & Training Fortune Cookies from the NC Mall can also help.
Speaking of, go get your free NC Mall Birthday cupcake, as it grants +5 HP to a pet that eats it.
Similarly, pay attention to your pets' birth dates, as, if you own a pet, and you visit their lookup on their birthday, you can pick from a birthday cupcake that grants +5 HP, Defense, or Strength.
Also, when waking Turmaculus, you can get +1 STR.

The Neopian Times actually has a search feature.
When viewing a Neopian Times comic, if you click the author's name, you'll be taken to a list of all comics they've had entered into the Neopian Times up to that issue.
So if you click their name on their comic from say, issue 500, it'll list all their submissions up to issue 500, but not ones from 501.
For example:

Either way, point is, you can use that page to fairly easily search by artist -it even shows descriptions- and as long as you remember the artist name, I imagine it can be pretty helpful.
Just keep in mind, though, that if you click the user's name in a week's submissions list... That is, say, if you're browsing the Comics, Articles, etc. section for a given issue, as opposed to a list of stuff by 1 user... it will take you to their user lookup, not their NT submissions list.
If you want their NT submissions list, click their username in the submissions, and then you can search much easier.

Also, Neopia Central petpets Rarity 69 and under are the only kinds Grey Faeries request. Some other quest types (NPC-initiated quests, I imagine.) may also have ranges for rarities of items that'll ask for.

Well, one option for some small, mostly consistent profit (Through gambling.) is Pawkeet Pinatas. They cost a few hundred NP each (Sometimes less.) give 1 or 2 food items and 1 toy each time they break, from a pool of 12 items, which are mostly evenly distributed; 2 of those foods are worth around 2,000 NP.
With a small investment and some time, you can buy a bunch and make a lot off of them.
For faster pinata breaking, use backspace to navigate back a page in the item window, then click submit again to hit the Pinata if it didn't break, instead of hitting "Close and Refresh".
It's arguably a daily, but Spinning the Wheel of Mediocrity every hour or is slow but steady profit. Even some of the foods it can give are valuable.

I can't think of too many ways to make dosh quickly on Neopets, sorry to say.

With the exception of the Salted Seaweed Snacks, every Corkgun Gallery Prize item is worth more than the cost of a single shot, according to JN's prices, which costs 100 NP. Said SSS are valued at 100 NP.
Many of them are exclusive to said game, but several are not, like the Banana Achyfi, which Jelly Neo values at 5,150 NP. Likely, because it's the 1 gourmet food (Its rarity of 90 falls into the 90-100 Gourmet Food range.) the Gallery has, but certainly not the only profitable item.
Unlike the Coconut Shy, Bagatelle and the CGG have seemed inaccessible for a while, even though you can access them, making Bagatelle's Jackpot raise much slower, and the CGG's items get more valuable, with fewer being acquired.
All 3 of them can be played 20 times per day. The CGG and Shy are 100 NP a play, and Bagatelle is 250 NP.
IMHO, it can be easy to lose thousands of NP to Bagatelle, the Shy is sometimes a little profit, sometimes a little loss, but the CGG can be good NP, if you know how to aim, and what for, once you sell your prizes.
In the past, I've usually gone for Banana Achyfi.

Not the other guy, but at the level of money you're at now, you might want to look into the Faerieland Job Agency. Basically, you buy items and turn them in to get NP; if you get more than you spent, you profit. With a day or two of practice and some decent mental arithmetic skills, you can reliably earn maybe 20k-30k per day in half an hour or so. (And most of that half hour you'll spend doing other things while waiting for new jobs to be added.)

Long story short, if the current Neopian Day is the birthday of a pet you own, you can visit that Neopet's lookup to choose a cupcake, which is a No Trade item.
Pink grants +5 HP when eaten, Yellow gives +5 Strength when eaten, and Blue gives +5 Defense when eaten.
Pets with no owners (Pets in the pound.) can not have their age, nor their birthdays seen.
Supposedly, there might be pet birthdays findable via Google's Cache or other things. I dunno for sure.

For example, there are restrictions about adopting/receiving pets via transfer, related to the levels, colours, and species of pets in the pound.
Also: A pet must be at least seven days old in order to transfer or pound it. You are allowed to abandon one pet a day from an account, and abandoning costs 250 NP.
Not to mention, transferring pets, or adopting them costs NP. The fees you'll pay would rarely be more than a few thousand per pet, though.

Of course, if Neopets were real, it'd be a whole mess of things, even throwing the "ownership" idea out the window.
Disregarding the existence of certain other laws, given that Neopets seem sentient/sapient, in-universe, if they were real, they'd probably seem at least able to knowingly consent.
For example, a lot of things suggest they're a sentient species, but official statistics from petpages make some of them naturally very small.
Like Xweetoks, which would be like slightly large, sentient squirrels/chipmunks.
Or Eyries, which would be almost 5 feet tall, despite being quadrupedal, and supposedly able to fly.
Not to mention the issues of sentient aquatics and/or amphibians like Koi and Acara.
Never mind the physics, I think people would probably be freaking out how to accommodate them into society, if at all -"The Jubjub is a ball with legs, how do we adjust doors for this?!"- and wondering what sort of rights they get.
Not to mention, going by owned pet ages, despite what implications story/NPC Neopet behaviours and appearances might suggest, pic related is THE oldest Neopet there is.

For the past month or two I've been running an experiment to see how much NP I earn per day, by depositing the same amount every day and waiting to see if my on-hand NP runs out or keeps increasing. It's mostly stayed between 1-2 million, depending on whether Food Club is being a bitch and whether I keep on top of selling my BD loot. It got down to about 80k after eight days of holding FC bets and not selling BD loot, then shot up to 3 mil after taking care of both of those. I might finally call the experiment off now, since I've more or less answered my question.
