I confess that I was self-defensively being a bit self-parodic here. More clearly laid out, the themes ought to develop as follows: Two close friends are navigating the uncertainty inherent in a relationship with romantic potential within the context of one party's home. On one hand, Nick moves from wholly Other to accepted (contextually speaking). He had never imagined he could have a family life, but now starts to picture what it would be like. This could put even more pressure on his relationship with Judy, as she could serve as the gatekeeper to this potential future. He's 32, after all. He had never really considered settling down, so he feels late to the game.
Judy, on the other hand, worries she has moved from accepted to Other. She's revisiting home after working so hard to leave. Did she leave family life behind when she moved to the city? She's recently achieved a life-long dream and hadn't really thought too far past that. Now she realizes that she has to figure out the next step.

Perhaps just have both of them monologue some on their own while doing stuff around the farm, then have them discuss some too. Maybe come to a conclusion of what they'd like to try.
