It does seem like a wasted opportunity to bring the homeworld trio back into the 'active' cast and not have them interact with the boardies. I can imagine Pearl and Garnet (especially Pearl) have sorta had their fill of rubbing elbows with the natives over the milennia, but I got the idea that Lapis probably did a lot of chilling up on that sky arena, and Jasper more likely beat them into bloody pulps than talked to them, so it might actually be a new experience for them.
