Maybe it sounds like I'm being harsh, but I have a weakness for combining figures over ones that don't even if the individual bots are mediocre or crappy. Like, I have the SRC Power rangers Megazord, but it feels less special since it has no combining feature. Where as the Legacy Megazord is kinda crappy but the combining gimmick makes it feel more like a complete figure. So in that regard I like that bruticus even if the team members aren't as good as the newer ones.

I was a weird kid so I spent time on TF forums as a 10 year old. I saw all the people complaining about Sideburn and it drove me nuts. He was,and still is, the pinnacle of deluxe Transformers to me; only maybe UnitedJazz or Battle blade Bumblebee come close. I think that's why we get things like BW MPs and love letters to relatively niche eras like MP Star saber. Takara designers all have fond memories of those lines and keep their memories alive, or are itching to revisit their earlier works and redo them. Optimus Primal gets a figure from takara every few years, even if its just a redeco.
Where as on out end someone like John Warden comes in fairly recently and avoided most of the 90's, regarding Beast wars as the "dark ages" of the line.I'm not going to give him any grief on that, because he basically approaches TFs the same way he reinvigorated the GI Joe line; basically taking things back to basics and homaging the 80's material. but doing that also gives him a different perspective from Takara's team.

Personally, I think so, but your mileage may vary. He's basically a vestigial design that is unlike anything we got since then. He reminds me a lot of some newer Macross stuff, actually, where certain bits just hang freely. Its an aesthetic I like, but may vary for you. "...Yesterday, we brought you news on Takara Legends Ginrai having been confirmed at a Transformers panel at the Tokyo Toy Show, with some additional details on the figure.
Now, we have even more information on it, courtesy of a few TFW2005 board members. Type-R tells us that, based on reports from people who attended the panel, the figure will be released in winter. The cab has been remolded to look like the G1 cab and the chest, arms and legs have also been modified to look closer to the G1 bot mode. He’ll apparently still be a Headmaster, though. Likewise, board member Kafuka Fuura informs us that he attended the panel in person, and believes the chest, shoulders, feet, arms and possibly the face have all been redesigned.
That’s still not all, however. For Takara designer Hisashi Yuki has conspicuously updated his Twitter with a sketch entitled “Legends Super Jinrai“, giving us an idea of what they figure may end up looking like."

The truck cab in truck mode is closer to g1 optimus/ginrai's truck than being the obvious retool of ultra magnus's truck was, the robot mode truck front reflects this.
Sadly the blurry images don't do it justice unlike yuki's sketch, still it is a retool of a retool so its general form hasn't changed *that* much

The arms are newly molded, and I would say the chest and the head seems to be new too.
The legs are the same but they come with new feet with rocker movement.

I'm seeing a pattern.
MP's have always had a perfect alt mode with any flaws stuck onto the robot mode, towards the back in MOST cases.
But these beast wars MP's are in reverse, PERFECT robot modes, but faults in beast form, usually feet kibble.
I can understand primal's as they allow him to stand bipedal, but I hoped better for cheetor.

She's pretty cool, but incredibly top heavy. Her feet are tiny and have heels. Her waist is inhibited by a weird spin kicking gimmick. That said, you can get some decent poses out of her. At any rate she's an interesting addition to a collection, being one of the largest insect figures and one of the largest fembot figures we've gotten.

You know, I actually like both of them. I like PM Optimus being a chunky war machine, but I can't see him as a stylized super robot; just feels weird. Conversely, I can't see an anime pretty boy like Ginrai using such a brute looking transector, so Takara's stylized super robot Ginrai looks great for him. This helps set the two characters apart way more than just different colored hands or something would.

Check Mandarake and hope for the best. Unfortunately you might not get it cheap there, either. Since Takara uses cards for their versions modern toys(unlike the boxes they used for a while), it kills the resale value of them in the Japanese market, so you don't see as many of them pop up.
For reference, I've been hunting down a Henkei Dinobot, and even on Mandarake the prices go for 16000 JPY.

what did you type to search?
Many listings in mandarake can be found using english search terms, but even more can be found using the correct japanese.
All I can give you is to use the tf wiki page, on soundwave's profile (use g1 listing) find the section near the end that gives you his international names, it's gonna be broad but least looking up soundwave in japanese is a better start.
I noticed you may of found a listing but it may say sold out, check below and many more may show up, if they're all sold out, bookmark that shit and check the next day, around this time all new listings will be already up, though might be best to check sooner as some eagle eyed shoppers snap up new listings.
Good luck, finding henkei thundercracker was easy for me this way, soundwave has more toys but its better than looking up an optimus/convoy listing
