I'm pretty serious when I say that Storm Beast and Quake are garbage tier.
Storm beast at least has a really cool function, but Quake's is so bad that it affects the sets posing . The arm has so poor friction it just flails around and the beast keeps falling over if what the sets owner tells is anything to go by.

God, I can't wait to get my hands on Quake Beast.
I fiddled around in LDD and can't help but think that it looks a bit better when you swap the biceps bones and rotate the blade-construction on its shoulder so the blades face backwards instead of sideways.
That way the crystals are all in one solid line, making the arm look more massive, and the blades don't look as slapped on anymore like they did before.
I hope most of that can be done on the actual model since the crystal shells seem to be a bit larger than the rock ones.

There's generally only good things from 2008 vehicles, with some people thinking that while Axalara is the biggest, Jetrax is the better set.

Jetrax is my favorite out of the 2008 ones. Axalara may be bigger and have more functions, but I think Jetrax looks better from most angles. Visually, Axalara's pretty sloppy, the giant armored front section really clashes with the bare, Technic beam-heavy rear. Also, those Nuparu Mahri shield-pieces like to crack apart by themselves.
On the other hand, I do find Jetrax's gimmick less fun. Rockoh is okay, I actually like that it doesn't look too flashy.
Can't comment on the 2009 ones, since I only have the Cendox. It's an okay set. I'm kicking myself for not getting the Thornatus for half the price when I had the chance.

There are three basic levels of Kanohi

When a Toa becomes a Turaga, their mask "devolves" into a noble version. They are less powerful and offer less ability than great masks, but are still usable by Toa and Turaga alike.
>Powerless:
Almost every Matoran wears one of these and they don't offer any abilities at all, even when worn by a Toa or Turaga. One of the few exceptions is Jaller who wears a noble Hau, although since he's a Matoran, he cannot access its power.
You may have been confused when six of the original Matoran became the Toa (Jaller included) and they had different powers than the great versions of their powerless/noble masks would have given them. That's because they traveled to Bionicle hell and had their original masks replaced with new ones by literal Bionicle Satan before they became the Inika.

Oh, yeah. Jaller didn't used to wear that Hau. Back on Metru Nui he wore a powerless Komau, but when the Matoran were transported from the ancient city to Mata Nui, Jaller's mask was damaged. Turaga Vakama then gives him Turaga Lhikan's noble Hau as a replacement.
"Bionicle hell" is the realm of Karzahni, ruled by a being with the same name. He is the brother of the one who created the Toa Mata. The realm was originally intended to be a place where damaged Matoran would be sent for repairs before being returned home. The problem is, Karzahni (Bionicle Satan) was fucking insane and also terrible at his job. He rebuilt the Matoran sent there into weaker, malformed bodies, replaced their masks, and gave them weapons before either sending them to random ass places throughout the universe, or trapping them in his domain forever where they suffer and go insane themselves.
The six Matoran who found themselves traveling through there had their masks stolen and replaced with entirely new ones, but escaped before their bodies were altered.

Too many different shades for my taste. It might look better with the silver Hau rather than the chrome one. Swap out as much of the old grey as possible as well. Do those pipes come with different coloured ends? I think there might be a black-tipped version that could look better. Other than that, fix the exposed axles, pins and sockets and it'll look great.

seeing the sets in less professional photos, the overall design really doesn't bug me aside from the lower legs. but a size 1 and 2 bone fix that without ruining the shape of the figure.
Storm Beast's gimmick is cool enough that it justifies...most of the odd design, so I might only fix up the arms.
as for Quake Beast, I'm still waiting for a review of some sort to decide what to fix and what to keep.

I don't think you can go wrong with Umarak the Hunter. But if it's between Lewa and Pohatu, personally I'd go for the latter.

unless you buy Onua or Tahu, expect to make at least minor fixes.
MAJOR fixes are needed for Pohatu and Kopaka. I gave both of them a completely new torso and arms. Kopaka's torso can be built up better using the Two-Toa torso. Pohatu...MoC that shit up.
Minor fixes needed for Gali, Lewa, and Umarak. Gali needs longer limbs, Lewa needs a slightly different paldron positioning, and Umarak needs a slightly different shoulder build.
I kinda miss the pauldrons, but...I think it turned out well regardless.

Honestly, Pohatu rocks the Two-Toa sword.
and I got super annoyed with how finnicky the Scorpion was, so I kinda mashed together some sort of creature. I didn't have the parts for a Gimmick, so I just made something that looked cool....though someone's gonna say otherwise.
Basic uniting. at least it's not fighting Pohatu with every frickin motion.

Don't knock it until you've got it man. I found one at TRU today and I think it's fucking awesome. Really looks much better in person. Definitely better than Black Phantom, and while I do agree that Witch Doctor is superior, that set was actually 30 bucks. 4 years ago 30 bucks too, which makes a difference; Lego has gotten more expensive.

Sure, Grievous looks cool, but has no feats of engineering that were otherwise actually unique or desirable. WD, on the other hand, still holds a hip and shoulder design I'm fairly confident are vital for examining when designing large scale mocs you intend to still have poseability.
