settle down, kiddo.
>>5677021
Came here to say this myself.
What is the Deathscythe Gundam of Transformers?
>>5677055
Thunderhoof. Tractors are farming tools like scythes.
>>5677016
well at least he's getting better again with Dying of the Light.
>>5677059
>Ayy yoos! Get me a black repaint, or the crab gets it!
What if we write our own Transformer fiction? I already have a post on /co/, just wanna know what you guys think
The comic should stick to it's routes, no agendas or romance'n shit. Not a fan of when they do new things.
>>5677099
I'm a g1 fan but
>Not a fan of when they do new things
Would you be content with just reissues from the 80's for the next 10 years and ONLY reissues?
>>5677099
>The comic should stick to it's roots.
so they should just be there to sell toys.
>>5677127
You haven't read old comics much. That used to be a thing in all comics ever including more mature stuff like Claremont X men, since every comic was one's first.
>>5677064
Not exactly good leverage if the hostage is on his own side.
>>5677168
>You haven't read old comics much.
I've only read the first two tradebacks IDW did of the Marvel run.
been meaning to read more.
>>5677127
>Implying they aren't still doing that
>Like returning Sentinel to life because he has a new toy
>>5677115
>rewriting old characters new ways is new and not what marvel and dc have been doing for decades
>>5677174
You're not missing much if you ask me. I never found the Marvel comics that great, and didn't really like how some of the characters were. For example I found Shockwave to be annoying, and Megatron was everyone's whipping boy.
Though I guess some of the UK stuff is alright, I liked Time Wars.
>>5677016
Prime Rumble is honestly one of my favorites, but i got tired of his horrible color scheme.
I got the Japanese Frenzy, gave it Rumble's cooler head, and some extra paint.
>>5677350
>>5677352
I've been having too much fun with Quillfire since yesterday
Is that Frog dude from RiD getting a Minicon launcher or just a one step? I kind of want to get one and I feel like the launcher may be better.
>>5677127

Holy fuck, did Bendis travel back in time or something to shit up other Marvel comics he hadn't had a chance to buttfuck?

>>5677379
Springload? He has a one-step only currently. Doesn't seem like he'll be getting anything else.
>>5677388
I don't remember many 80's comics being that text box heavy bro.
>>5677395
Not him, seems like an introductory scene from what I read.
And let me tell you it came right out of the fucking 80's reading it
>hey guys
>am I a decepticon yet?
I don't get what the owner was trying to do, make tarn?
>>5677405
Tarn joke that he's Roller (maybe).
Can anyone who owns this guy show him with the PE Perfect Combiner add-ons? I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand, the paint apps are awesome, and it actually makes for a good representation of Galvatron. On the other hand, it's a combiner of a character who was never a combiner... and I don't even know where the fuck it'd even fit in with my collection.
I'm guessing he'd look good with CW Optimus Maximus or whatever. But then that'd be even more figures and add on kits I'd have to buy since I never bothered with the Optimus combiner.
>>5677419
I lack the add ons, but does this help?
Want the hasbro version, I found the set for him too where I got this from?
>tfw no Micro Commandos EVER
>>5677428
Not him but I would appreciate pics of Galvatronus, kind Anon
>>5677428
Thanks for the pic man.
Fuck...now it looks like I'm going to have gto get him...and by extension, Prime, his limbs, and the PE add-on kit for those guys.
Fuck my wallet...
>>5677432
Here ya go, excuse the quality change, not mine like before.
>>5677436
Meh, I'm sticking to my optimus maximus since I got grand scourge who's just a recolor of that prime.
Makes up for the fact I got both galvatronus and grand galvatron
>>5677441
I was hoping some purple or gray hands but thanks anyway. Here's a T H I C C Megatron as a show of appreciation.
>>5677427
Makes sense, actually.
Prime series is fucking overrated.
And Optimus sounds like a tired old man who is sick of all this shit.
>>5677410
>cock gun
Kek
>>5677464
Well, it does fit right between his legs.
>>5677463
>Optimus sounds like a tired old man who is sick of all this shit.
That's still more character than G1 Optimus has.
>>5677168
I've been reading Claremont's X-Men run on /co/ thanks to a storytime in the last few weeks, and there's nothing as bad as that panel. Sure every few issues you'll be reminded of Nightcrawler's teleportion at high velocities not being a good thing or Storm's claustrophobia, but there's never been a page just to sell each character on what they do.
>>5677463
>And Optimus sounds like a tired old man who is sick of all this shit.
How totally unfitting of a guy who has been fighting the same war for millions of years, lost his home and countless friends in the process, and yet there's still no end of it in sight.
>>5677477
When you can live forever barring someone blowing your head off or ripping your soul out, is a few million year war even a footnote in history to you?
>>5677481
>and yet there's still no end of it in sight
>>5677127
>>5677481
If you're the sort who can somehow care about a race of smaller, weaker flesh-creatures who live and die in a blink of an eye compared to you? Yeah, it probably is.
any IDW OCs you want to get a non3P toy?
>>5677260
In the ongoing comics yes, MTMTE no.
>>5677488
Holy shit I had the same thought reading that abomination
>>5677497

>>5677497
Nautica.
>>5677097
I think I'd just remake what was done in the Marvel comics but with today's extended style, maybe give some more time to minor characters but not too much. Grimlock needs to be important again.
Give only important characters important roles rather than what's done nowadays. I mean, Whirl is not even that interesting yet he is part of one of the main casts; he was much better when he was just a background gag character you always heard of whenever the Wreckers got into action.
>>5677497
whats wrong with 3p guys?
>>5677497
but that's not OC
>>5677385
Quillfire is cute! CUTE!
>>5677471
>That's still more character than G1 Optimus has.
Does Prime Optimus Prime play basketball with the boys or watch soap operas.
I don't fucking think so.
>>5677497
So this doesn't count then?
>>5677508
Except he is.
He's Furman's OC, like Jhiaxus, Shockaract, Impactor and Tyrest before him.
>>5677127
I like how the textboxes serve as characterization, though, every character shows a completely different attitude to the next one.
Now, if this was like the shit that happened in the 00s Amazing Spider-man or Bendis' Torso it'd be unforgivable.
>>5677488
I love it.
>>5677350
I wish I could buy Jap Frenzy's head from you but I'm not in America.
>>5677515
no, impactor and tyrest are roberts' creation
>>5677513
idunno, guy. That sounds like some very superflous shit.
You could tape that shit on Prowl and it'd be believable.
>>5677497
Tarn, any day.
>>5677513
G1 Optimus was goofy as fuck and had tons of character. I wonder where the perception he was always stoic and serious even came from.
>>5677529
You can even say Bay Optimus loves ice hockey and enjoys a nice warm energon bath when he's not brutally murdering Decepticons.
I bet you don't even know!
>>5677507
Too expensive.
>>5677523
Impactor has been around since the Marvel run. Furman created him.
>>5677537
you're full of shit
you can't just put it like that, besides hobby does not fucking define personality
bayformer optimus has no personality whatsoever
>>5677547
>hobby does not fucking define personality
It does when you're trying to wring as much substance as possible out of a shallow toy commercial.
>>5677547
Angry psycho is a personality.
>>5677500
>MTMTE no
The next issue of MTMTE after Dying of the Light is about them finding dead titans, the new toyline. So that's a yes to MTMTE too.
>>5677536
It just makes more sense, you know?
And maybe some of Primal rubbed on him, though he wasn't stoic and serious either.
>>5677537
Well, exactly. But those details don't really count as characterization until they connect to the character.
G1 Prime favoring teamwork and caring about humans connects with him liking basketball but it could've been anything. Basketball is not personal enough.

Talking about the original cartoon specifically. Though to be entirely honest, Transformers has always been and will continue to be a toy commercial first and foremost.

>>5677547
Bayformer Optimus has had a lot of character development, though. Not their fault you only care about the action scenes.
In the first movie he is a lot like G1 Optimus but with the added twist of actually behaving like a warrior and trying to avoid meddling with humans as much as possible, in ROTF he trusts humans enough to work along with the Murrikkkstani army which his other teammates didn't trust as much, in DOTM he reasonably assumes that attitude of fuck-this-humans-are-hopeless-but-i-can't-let-them-die-on-our-war when the Evil Rich Peopleâ„¢ revealed they were working with the decepticons behind his back, by the time it's AOE he is sick of everyone and is on the verge of lashing out against humans.

As much as I enjoyed the game, it was too short, and it reused way too much.
The gameplay is solid, I just wish it had more to offer content-wise. The WFC/FOC games offered a lot more overall.
>>5677626
Most DMC style games are short. You're meant to replay them for better scores more or less, or harder difficulties.
>>5677629
Yeah that's true, just tough to seperate the Transformers from the game I guess. I did enjoy it.
>>5677427
Honestly I liked Prime, though mainly because it appealed somewhat to my inner edgelord. The designs (lack of noses aside) were pretty great, the animation was consistently good, the voicework was good, and whilst some of the characters were kinda flat (Prime was just Movie Prime without the whole "badass war veteran/one-bot genocide machine" thing) there were some great characters too- most of them Decepticons admittedly. Also the humans were some of the most bearable human companions we've had in years- even Miko (who admittedly wins brownie points in my eyes for her voice actress, who is cute as fuck).
>>5677447
Holy shit that is great. Dem thighs.
>>5677629
Oh wow. I've been meaning to buy this game and this may have just convinced me to pull the trigger.
>>5677637
It LOOKS fun, but controlling Grimlock is actually not very enjoyable, he plays different from the other 4 Autobots and requires a lot more input, not to mention he transforms by accident a lot.
>>5677642
>but controlling Grimlock is actually not very enjoyable, he plays different from the other 4 Autobots and requires a lot more input
i hated him at first, but he just takes alot of getting used to.
With Grimlock, it's all about the grapples, all about how quickly you can dodge. you can even grapple in the air!
after that he becomes very fun, especially when you get the grapple power up and Grimlock's Sword, the burning one

What would be ideal figures (3rd Party or otherwise) to repurpose as the 13 originals?
Myself, my current setup is:
Vector: Cyb Voyager Vector Prime
Alpha: Botcon Alpha Trizer
Micronus: Any clear green Minicon
Onyx: Beast Hunters Grimmwing
Quintus: Alpha Quintesson
Liege: ROTF Voyager Fallen (Green)
Megatronus: Maketoys Chaos Paladin
Optimus: Movie Dlx Protoform Prime

Is it the G1-colors or the original colors ones you're seeing? The G1 version has chrome on said rubbery parts, who knows how long that will last.

It doesn't count because
>it's too small

I'm not against repaints filling in holes, but I am when they do it poorly. Nova Prime is supposed to be an impressive, large leader type. Not a scrawny typical troop size Deluxe. Just because it exists doesn't mean it's good or acceptable.
Nova needs a Voyager figure and wings but it probably won't happen unless they make a triple changing Headmaster for the next line, or maybe whatever comes after.
>>5677127
I want that purple Soundwave. Seriously, why hasn't there been a repaint of him like this?
>>5678086

Riptide and Velocity.
We need more water-based characters.
Looking at Takara's Strafe made me wonder how difficult would it be to turn their Blast Off into a stealth bomber, provided I have the parts.

>>5678130
I really hope Riptide is in the line up for Maketoys' Manga Mech series. Right now I'm using PCC Undertow as his stand in on my List Light shelf.
Although Undertow is a great boatformer in his own right, but I love Riptide's MTMtE design.

I'm thinking about writing a episodic script
fan fiction
about the decepticons rise to power before the war and OP's involvement in it. I wanna make it a sort of crime drama with action elements using a sort of mash of g1, aligned, and animated. Does it sound like a good idea?
>Script
I've always wanted to do movie making (although I'm not great at scripts)
>animated
What I meant by that was that Animated was based on g1, but was so radically different from the typical formula like the Unicron trilogy. Aligned, specifically War for Cybertron was heavily based in g1 even though it later evolved to more original content like Robots in Disguise. I want somewhere between the originality and fan service of Animated, and the heavier g1 look of WfC
Animated also had a lot more of a look into daily life for transformers other than "muh war"
------------------------
Sounds pretty cool, it's just the format for me.
Script fics are either so badly formatted as a script that its just laziness or so WELL formatted it feels mechanical.
Still, go for it.
Especially if you keep the murder of Orion Pax.
>>5677097 #

This. This so much.
TF Characters (so far)
Ultra Magnus - A bot who takes law to a totalitarian degree, doesn't agree with the Autobots but prefers their rule over a faction of criminals
Prowl - burdened by his obligations
Broadside - a pack mule who discovers his size changing abilities
The Constructicons - a band of brothers who have a hidden power to combine (shockwave experiments on them to create other combiners)
Metroplex and Trypticon - mythical Titans who fight for Primus and Unicron, respectively (Fort Max and Scorponok are experimental bots based off them in attempt to create other Titans)
Roadbuster - basically doomguy
>>5678168
I actually really like the novel that goes along with WfC and FoC. It's actually a neat read about the decepticons and OP's involvement. I'm sure it's cheap to pick up and it's worth a read and is a nice companion to the games.

>>5678250
Too much of Unicron's mental torture I guess.
>>5678250
He spent a couple of months in a coma while submerged in lava.
>>5678250
He went headfirst through Unicron's asshole and landed in a pool of lava. He then stayed there for months until Cyclonus found him. I'm thinking part of his brain melted. Or, they wanted his character to be a bit more distinct and different from Megatron.
>>5678185
>I'm sort of worried about it being too edgy and serious like IDW
One thing I don't like about IDW is that the writers seems to disregard what other writers had in mind regarding a character.
Like a deranged Kup suddenly turned into a badass A-Team leader, Wheelie and his rhyming alien buddy got attacked and the latter murdered, Grimlock turned from a guilt-tripped rogue into a brain damaged retard for wacky adventures. Not to mention what happened to Hunter and Sunstreaker.
Kinda makes me scared with what they'll do with Sixshot when he returns, I hope they don't retcon his lonely WMD angle into yet another edgy nutjob like Overlord and Tarn.
So are there any places selling deluxe groove still? I'd be willing to trade a quickslinger for one
>>5678287
Most places haven't begun selling it yet.
>>5678168
Jumping on the story bandwagon.
>rise to power before the war
Kreo here, doing a similar thing, except making OP not as relevant, so as to cover different characters.
Focusing on different city-states but after the war. Autobots/Decepticons would be more of a label based on either political alignment/parties or ethnicity/geographical origin, simply because I can't be bothered to modify the already-fading decals on tiny Kreo bodies.
Things would start to form together as city states become more centralized under unified Autobot/Decepticon control, and Optimus/Megatron would take more of the spotlight as well.
>sort of crime drama
This could be good for explaining pre-war tensions as well as expanding character dialogue and worldbuilding, similar to the Shadowplay arc in MTMTE.

>Ultra Magnus - A bot who takes law to a totalitarian degree
I prefer the "noble soldier" Ultra Magnus but I respect your differences.
>>5678048
Did you snag 'Hoof anyway? He's not as good as Quillfire but he's great in his own ways - especially the unique alt mode
>>5678277
>Grimlock turned into a brain damaged retard
Again?
Why?
>>5678305
That's sort of what I was thinking, but I was going to put it in sort of an "episode" format focusing on different characters from their point of view. The first episode would be Trailbreaker, then Prowl, ect.
I would like to see what else you have. Do you have anywhere where we could chat?
>>5678341
Yep, he's all right. Nice clean transformation, too.
>>5678350
He would break the plot if he was fighting at 100%. In a drugged out AF state he was able to fend off the DJD.

This is obviously old news but I only just found it and man, this video is friggin' great, comfiest and most honestly funny thing I've seen in a while.
>>5678250
Scourge says it when they pulled him out, the plasma bath fried his circuits. Made him bipolar I guess, I read somewhere the matrix cured him in return of Optimus Prime.
>>5678366
I honestly didnt know about this, thanks for sharing it!
Reaally cool to hear the VAs just talk instead of being interviewed.

Is Generations Whirl any good, bros?
>>5678507
It depends on what your tastes are. Has a very atypical design compared to most transformers. Also some people report some of his joints are overly tight which make potential for breakage.
>>5678507
Pretty good, my only real complaints is the tail portion of his helcopter mode doesn't like to hold together in vehicle mode, and his propeller doesnt lock down in robot mode.
>>5678507
He's a mixed bag. It's very true to the original toy which isn't necessarily a good thing. His proportions are weird, his weapons are weak, and his posability is awkward.
If this picture doesn't sell you on him, then don't bother. I personally would have preferred a Whirl based on the current comics. That's a strange design that looks appealing.
>>5678558
Pic related is what I mean.
>>5678507
He's not worth voyager prices, but he goes for like $10 on a ton of places last time I checked. He's certainly worth that.
>>5678561
That is festering ugliness.
>>5678558
>It's very true to the original toy which isn't necessarily a good thing
I dunno, that's a good thing to me and I'm happy his old toy got an update.
And honestly, that looks nicer than >>5678561 but personally I like the Legends color version better.
Does that one has any joints issue like Generations? The Legends one I mean.
Also is Voyager Roadbuster good as well?
>>5678570
true to the original, eh?
>>5678558
your posts reminds me of how the comic fans used to bitched that his toy doesn't look like his IDW counterpart.
i mean i get that they wanted to complete the cast of the comics, but isn't this a case of hastak acknowledging the dorvack roots of whirl, as if there's more to the fandom than just cartoon and comic fans?
>>5678575
I wish CHUG do their own thing with the aesthetic again rather than taking cues after the comics or slavishly adhere to G1
>>5678615
I wish generations would go back to being generations, literally just pumping out characters, re-envisioned or otherwise, from across every 'generation' of transformers.
>>5678615
You do know that they still do, right?
>>5678621
>what is titans return
>>5678620
Thing is theres a lot of versions of several characters and everyone wants THEIR favorite version to be one that gets a toy of it.
>>5678597
I'm not saying it's a bad toy or it shouldn't exist, but rather that it's not what I want. I don't really like the original toy for whirl, so while the new one is a major improvement, it still doesn't fit my tastes.
Honestly, the best case for me would be >>5678615 but that's only leading to headmasters of non-headmaster characters rather than glorious things like pic-relted.
>>5678622
And that line pretty much took some liberties when it comes to "aesthetics".
Your point?
Just admit that you just want to bitch at IDW fans.
>>5678643
Nice projecting faggot.
No, Titans Return IS what happens when you adhere slavishly to G1. No innovation or interesting take whatsoever.
>>5678651
>no innovation or interesting take
>all these new headmasters
>Sentinel
>Blaster & Soundwave bases
>possible triplechanger Megs
>new Overlord possibly
>>5678651
>adhere slavishly to G1
>half the designs are reedun updated bodies
>>5678651
But that Voyager Optimus is based on a G2 toy.
>>5678561
>not posting the superior version
And yes it can transform.
I would kill for this.
>>5678651
It's uninteresting because it was done before, 30 years ago? It's a gimmicky as fuck line with a ton of play possibility.
Most of the lines that people might consider "innovative" had toy gimmicks, or shows that didn't vary that much from G1 anyway. Animated? Armada?
>>5678688
>>5678352
Kind of like the Spotlights in the comics!
You have some interesting ideas as well.
I have programs/applications for communications.... what would be good for you?

As an aside, the best helmet for custom Straxus Kreon is Major Bludd's.
>>5677726
This was used as Logos Prime which was supposedly a member of the 13 in another universe.
>>5678725
Never got around to collecting the G.I. Joe figures, let alone getting into the story, which is still on my to-do list.
>>5678615
I think the comics take after the toys moreso than the toys take after the comics. Doesn't Hasbro consult with them on character design/usage to advertise new figures?
>starscream= little bitch
>skywarp= dumb prankster
What is Thundercracker?
How much does a set of the Kabaya Fortress Maximus kits go for in conventions, does anyone recall?
>>5678742
I'd assume they would. No use in making people want figures that there won't be toys of, right?
>>5678749
The rational one who doesn't always fully agree with Megatron's plans, but usually goes through with them anyway.
Thundercracker also loves human poetry, for what that's worth.
>>5678749
Reluctant decepticon
>>5678749
Actually talented but easy to influence?
>>5678103
because there is a very limited market within the Transformer market for 80's/90's Marvel Comic Accurate Figures.
>>5678767
>The rational one who doesn't always fully agree with Megatron's plans
>>5678769
its funny, outside the comics the only thing to give him that character trait is TF Devastation.
https://youtu.be/nKmIDkpbpt8?t=107
Thundercracker should be more like that, he gets very little characterization compared to the other two
What's stopping every TF to be a triple-changer in fiction? Do tri-changers have some weakness in exchange for two altmodes?
