Well, the contents of the box were a bit of a surprise, its mixed stuff I got from premium collectables, first thing is they sent me these stickers, luckily I have the figures to use them on.

Might help ease the pain of them being hasbro figures, not that takara has been kind to me

Now for the first heartbreak, I expected a collector coin for ramjet but according to PC and...everywhere I've read there wasn't a coin made, got the grand galvatron coin though (in previous post) but as expected mp ramjet was flawed, not the way I expected him to be.

>shoulders:Fine
>cosmetic wing panel:Still borked
>missing shoulder piece:Dafaq

Didn't even know about this one, not a massive issue since the missing panel is just for mp11's cape and crown, but...it still hurts, other than that he's the best seeker in my collection in terms of functionality.

Hasbro starscream a shit, takara ramjet still transitions far smoother, now to inspect grand galvatron to see if he's missing any paint apps, not gonna bother with the junkion set, they look fine currently

>>5661075
Now to give my review of UW Grand galvatron.

First off the bat, paint apps are good, nothing missing, guess the breakdown with missing leg details was a one off, but I wouldn't know, if anything I found more paint apps I didn't know about, the forehead on grand galvatron is actually painted silver but it blends in with the grey plastic.

Secondly, how is the plastic, well I gave ghost starscream a good old squeeze, he's very soft, I'm more worried about him melting than crackling apart, the blue sections most notably the tail fins are really squishy, but overall for him and...most of the team apart from rollar and breakdown feel quite soft in terms of feel.

Joints on ghost starscream feel kinda worn which is odd as he's using solid plastic on his balljoints and connecting sections, guessing qc on mine took a hit.

For anyone wondering, cyclonus is done in metalic injected plastic, he's VERY swirly so if you like that you'll love him, I'm dissapointed he isn't drenched in paint though his paint app count is off the charts, and that's before we look at the grand galvatron sections.

Overall, quite pleased, surprised by their softness but hay, few would have him and fewer still have the collector coin.

Unless a few people ask not gonna bother with the platinum set I got, they're an old mold that I just got as I wanted more bike formers, now I have them

What's the quality like on those stickers? I've considered picking them up on eBay.
>>
>>5661352
Lets see, bare in mind I have have an avid hatred for diy stickers (thanks to gundam models I switched to painting instead out of frustration, that and metroplex).

Glossy, feels smooth so I can guess it can take a transformation/handling here and there, can't judge stick quality as I haven't used them.

Thing is they're quite minimal when fully applied, and...I personally think its silly paying for stickers, would rather a water slide option personally, if you want them pay as cheap as possible, like $4 with free shipping.

Sorry if I'm not helpful, sticker bias, these turned out to be a freebie premium collectables just chucked in

The lack of paint on Hasbro's Titan Masters bother me. I mean why not put effort into the main gimmick of the line?

Thank god for Takara.
>>
>>5661496
They are hunting and killing humans.
>>
>>5661498
Now that would be a strange twist.
>>
>>5661497
Because the only part that needs paint is the main bots face. Paint on the titan master, especially in the heavily used tiny head, means chipping.
>>
>>5661099
I really like that shade of blue they used on Cyclonus. It seems pretty subtle.
>>
>>5661497
It's not about "effort." It's about the fact that paint on a toy of that size that's going to be constantly transformed and played with by kids is probably going to rub off anyways.
>>
>>5661521
...which is why takara's caters to a different audience.

Same toy, different market
>>
>>5661532
If you're going to use the master as a head then the masters head paint will wear.
>>
>>5661534
Depends on the usage, the different market I'm talking about is an older audience that may seldom transform them or at all.

Not like us or the intended hasbro audience where we keep switching them up, heck we don't even know the durability, might get broken pegs like that voyager brainstorm

I'm not really much of a TF fan anymore, but it's weird to think we're in a time when we're getting a new, 2 ft. tall Fort Max toy and people are disappointed. Like back when I was in the middle of my collecting, it was exciting just to get something like Alternators Mirage or Cybertron Metroplex, which didn't even turn into a city. It almost makes me wish Classics never happened because it's spoiled us so much collectors now don't know how good they have it.

Oh well, it makes me free to appreciate a few of these new releases without the same pessimism this fandom is drowning in.
>>
>>5661872
If you think Classics spoiled collectors, you should look at third parties.

Classics and the lines soon after also happened to deliver good toys with great articulation and paint considering the UT's issues with integrating gimmicks beforehand. Standards rose to the bar they set. Much of what is new is visibly cutting corners.
>>
>>5661872
because Hasbro half-asses everything, knowing their loyal idiot fans will buy it anyway, as well as scream at anyone who isn't going to buy it.

>be thankful

when they give these toys to me for free, then I'll be thankful. Until then I vote with my wallet.
>>
>>5661872
It's just the nature of Transformers collecting, I think. The franchise is so deeply-rooted in nostalgia that long-time collectors can't just drop collecting TFs in the chance that one day they get their ideal versions of toys they had as kids so instead they complain and bicker about not getting their way. Meanwhile you've got people who either didn't grow up with the entirety of the franchise or aren't intensely dedicated who are super stoked about stuff like Combiner Wars or Titans Return, possibly because they either haven't had the chance to be disappointed or don't let themselves get that invested.

I have one of all of the major Seeker modes in the last 14 years or so, and this is the only one I actually felt compelled to buy a full trio of. Such an underrated mold; everyone was chicken-little-ling about the FoC molds that they missed this figure which is easily on par with what we got in 2010. It's amazing to me how many TF fans just don't care about articulation and prefer the classics Starscream mold over this. Classics Screamer wasn't even acceptable in '06, let alone now.

>>

I sort of do in a way.

He was trying to do something new and different with his stuff instead of clinging to the past and making it exactly like G1.

On the other hand we never would have got Combiner Wars or Titans Returns and those lines look great despite not being that original.

I'm mixed but a part of me wishes he could be their exclusives guy for future conventions.
>>
>>5661851
I don't think they failed on their own merit, but due to the fact that some fuckin idiot higher up at hasbro thought it would have been a great idea to release the Thrilling 30 and AoE toylines simultaneously, having them compete for shelfspace. Either they wanted Thrilling 30 to bomb or were ignorant to the fact that retailers will always favor media tie in merchandise over non tie in toys. That's why none of it moved, people kept buying the movie shit, which took up 60-75% of the transformers section of the action figure aisle, so retailers kept stocking movie shit, gradually choking out CHUG pegs. That's the reason nobody saw the fembots or brainstorm, by the time the movie stuff cleared out and they could stock what backed up 30th stuff they had in inventory, CW was the new shit, so they never ordered the last wave of 30th.
>>

>>
>>5661953
He wasted the time he had as a lead designer and Takara was frustrated by the limitations he and Hasbro kept imposing on them. Under his lead they took relatively few risks and towed the company line well. For all the complaints about half-assing now, he and his team half-assed homages way more, and unlike this team it wasn't something that could be easily "fixed" with a Takara redeco/remold. Good riddance.

Now Joe Kyde, there's someone I miss. He planned out the Thrilling 30, which was an exciting time that went out of its way to please everybody.
>>

The best (worst) part was that FunPub NEVER showed a photo of the ACTUAL toy. People didn't know the size until it was already paid for and in front of them.

The problem is slightly less noticeable on Counterpunch mode, since it uses Sunstreaker's roof chest to make a slimmer torso, but that only goes so far.

Yeah, something about the proto for menasor having to be glued together iirc
>>
>>5662346
To be honest, I don't think that it's that Nucleon "lost" the paint apps, it's just that he never had them to begin with. They always spruce up the promotional figures to be photographed at cons and such, and these figures are normally hand painted. Notice how Galvatron also has a nice shiny silver paint coat in the video, yet the actual figure just has grey plastic. Compare the pic to the video.

On the bright side, the solution shouldn't be too difficult if it'll look better by making the Titan Master purple. I've painted Warhammer minatures, this should be easy.

I have to agree. It started strong even with it's flaws but got messy after the wave 3 the 84 bots turn into combiners was just too much for me. not because it was the 84 bots but because the whole wave was Stunticons but with new heads right down to Rodimus. I meant by virtue of the fact that it was an actual G1 revival, not a half-measure like we where getting before, and I'm including all the classics style lines in that list(Universe 2.0, generations, etc.) '01-'05 was just filled with things like:
>hey its a vehicle Optimus! Its a firetruck and has almost no blue on it, but that's something, right!
>Oh look, a new starscream toy! It has a completely different deco with a huge backpack, but its face has a smirk!

The movie line's budget was mostly a waste. I actually don't mind a lot of the movie designs, but even as complex as they where, theys till didn't manage to really nail the look of the movie designs beyond a few golden figures. Long haul was great, but the rest of the constructicons where a wash. There where a bunch of generic characters that weren't even in the movie that had toys wasted on them. People keep praising that line, but so many of the toys are of who-cares movie characters. the fact that we could've had G1 Constructicons and dinobots with that sweet budget but didn't will forever be a disappointment.

I'm counting anything with a remold, or repaint as a different character. I only counted Cyclonus because it's two distinctly different sets of colors for the same guy, not like the CW/UW variations. Didn't think the G2 repaints would be worth it cause eh.

You actually are selling me on how much a redeco can make a toy seem completely different and a viable double dip. So its kinda backfiring, my friend.

I'm not specifically doing it for any reason, just documenting. Some of it works well since it's not just one mold with a few heads.
