Really curious what Hasbro's gonna do with Deathsaurus. Will he have a bot mode and dragon mode? Or a dragon and vehicle mode?

Is a bot mode even possible from that mold?
>>
>>5395729
>Is a bot mode even possible from that mold?

Unless the plane part can go from vehicle to robot, then no.
>>
>>5395729
What about names? Can Hasbro feasibly have a robot named "Killbison"?
>>
>>5395747
By being a boxed set and being "Decepticon Killbison" like how "Decepticon Hook" works.
>>
>>5395747
I'm sure they've used worse.
>>
>>5395748
>>5395749
Then what about Hellbat?
>>
>>5395729
I assume it's going to change from Leozack jet mode to Deathsaurus monster mode to Liokiaser torso mode.
And back again!
>>
>>5395750
He's probably getting renamed. While names like Killbison, or Cutthroat may pass, Hell might put a damper on things.
>>
>>5395750
Call him Mindwipe.
>>
>>5395753
Cutthroat probably won't.
>>
>>5395753
Cutthroat got changed to Windrazor.
>>
>>5395753
Didn't Hasbro release some chick called Satana Hellstrom in Marvel Legends?
>>
>>5395758
>>5395760
Forgot that one got changed. Well, they use Onslaught, and Bludgeon.
>>
>>5395772
Yeah but that's not as violent sounding as cutthroat. Kids aren't always going to have the lexicon to know exactly what onslaught and bludgeon means as compared to cutthroat which is made of 2 words they will more likely know and realize how it sounds.
>>
>>5395776
Okay, then why did Swoop get changed? That is less violent than those guys.
>>
>>5395792
From swoop to what? Strafe?
>>
>>5395792
Some names, like Shockwave, get changed due to issues copyrighting the name, or if another company is currently using the name for a toy.

Thoguh Swoop is a weird one, specualation is that Hasbro wanted to separate the AoE character from G1 Swoop because he had two beast heads. But in time people just considered him G1 Swoop's counterpart anyway.
>>
>>5395802
I can't blame them. Imagine all the "SWOOP DOESN'T HAVE TWO HEADS" that would have happened with AOE Strafe.
>>
>>5395803
They could have called him Terrorsaur lol
>>
>>5395803
That did happen though.
I remember during the pre movie buzz I wanted Strafe in the movie to be like "Hello, my name is Strafe. Glad to make your acquaintance."
And the other head to be like "ME SWOOP!"
>>
>>5395765
That's different. Marvel characters are Marvel's can of worms.

They're supposed to release Daimon Hellstorm soon too, who is the literal Son of Satan.
>>
Does anyone care if they retain their names? At the end of the day, you'll still call them Killbison, and Hellbat.
>>
>>5395813
That. That I would've been tickled about.
>>
>>5395817
Its a rights/honour/childhood thing like how americans cling to their second amendment.

I'm not american but I would prefer for them to keep their old names, but I'd still call them that, and surely takara would too.

Based takara
>>
>>5395765
She was only in an SDCC exclusive boxset, and they didn't use the name "Hellstrom" on the packaging.
>>
>>5395817
Only is I get to still use the name Take-Off.
>>
>>5395817
It's what I do unless I like the new names more.

Finally got Defensor and absolutely love him.

Only thing is, I know First Aid's handfootgun should be able to peg on top of his vehicle mode, but I can't make it work.

From what I've seen online, I guess there's supposed to be a small opening between the hand's fingers? Because I can't find any opening of the sort on mine. I hope I'm just dumb and missing something obvious rather than this being a QC issue.
>>

So according to former Fun Publication people on Allspark, seems that Hasbro will be running Botcon 2016.

That feel when you get your shit fest taken away from you to be done right for once.

>>

Are the Predacus exclusives still happening or not then?
>>
>>5395868 So Generations Cybertron Optimus Prime and sticking it in the same wave as a Deluxe Leobreaker that combines CW style?

>>5395880
I became less annoyed when I saw that in universe Blast Off didn't WANT to become a Jet but Onslaught forced him to after his rocket mode got him seperates from the team for so long that it crippled the team since now they couldn't form Bruticus.

Still would like the rocket but I can live with the in universe explanation.

And should I keep buying CW Bruticus parts or just sell Blast Off and Swindle (and maybe even CW Menasor) so I can get UW Bruticus?
>>
>>5395892
>Botcon 2016 has tron lights version of Victorion and Optimus Maximus.
>>
>>5395887
Well it doesn't seem to work on mine. And I'm just looking at images online, it looks like the gun should sit much more forward than just tabbing it at the gunbarrels.

Either way I guess it's not a big issue even if I can't figure this out.
>>
>>5395908
...it doesn't tab at the gun barrels. As shown in the pic with the circle it's on the fingers. Holy fuck.
>>
>>5395901

There will still be a box set, I don't know if they said anything about the exclusives they have at the show or anything like that

What? Shuttles are not used a lot by real life military? Undoubtedly. I won't argue that. But last I checked, Transformers weren't realistic.

If we can have a flaming Winnebago, a Fairlady Z as a Highway Patrol car and a Lamborghini as a fire chiefs car, a military space shuttle really isn't straining the limits of credibility any further

I remember some retard on Allspark back in 2000. I think he was named Beastbot X or something.

At any rate when the Car Robots toys hit the States, he insisted on calling RID Megatron Gigatron. He got all snotty and claimed that he was "Being faithful to the original mold".

When he bought a bad guy toy he would call it part of his "Robots in Diguise Destron" collection. Even though there WEREN'T any actual Destrons in the original "Car Robots" line.

What a faggot

>I could Hasbro Botcon sets just being "Platinum" versions of regular releases.
This in my opinion would be our 2 worse case:
1.Combiner War Cyclonus, Scatter Shot, and many/all of the G2 gift sets would have been club rather than mass retail.
Im not saying they fill the gap but I'd wager they use the club as a testing ground for shit and use it to platform off of.

2.Early access. I could see them giving the club a month+ head start on mass retail toys with the most natural issues being scalping and endless bitching about club members getting a head start. That said for worse case situations this would help Hasbro see how many dedicated Buyers there were early on and that for good or ill would effect case ratios

>>
>>5396503

Meh. I figure my choices are try to return him somewhere (which would require a Helluva drive), open him and hope we get limbs, or open him and maybe buy the Computron set later.

Honestly, I'm not losing out on much by opening him. It's 26 bucks for a Voyager. I'll just set him up with some of my extra limbs or keep him just in bot mode, and he'll be fine, and if Computron is nothing BUT a boxed set, I'll decide if I want him then. He's probably not going to be out for months anyway, plenty of time to see whats coming.

Plus it's really only his body mode thats terrible. Jet mode looks cool, and bot mode is alright.

Honestly, the best Bruticus would probably be a mash of CW and UW parts. CW grey chest Onslaught, UW 4 rotor Vortex, whichever Blastoff you like (but if you're buying UW, might as well use the shuttle right?), Swindle probably won't vary much if at all between the 2 regions, and Brawl MIGHT get a fixed waist, who knows?

First TF was an unknown small green jeep (could've been hound) that I found at my dad's radio station
First time I saw TFs on TV was a busted vhs of the animated movie
First REAL dose of transformers was Beast Wars and my first Beast Wars toy was Terrorsaur.
My first vehicle series was Armada because our town didn't have whatever channel had RiD

Before I actually go in to the mythos and only kind of knew names from other generations I thought the beast era characters were already established characters. Like prime was now primal and so on until I caught the episode where they found the ark one day.
>>
>>5396640

>>
>>5396646
I mean we all kinda thought that to some degree until Primal found the Ark. I remember being around 13 or so when that episode aired and it blew my mind.

Maybe some of the heavy Usenet users knew Primal definitely wasn't at all Prime, but I could only use the internet half an hour a day maximum back then. So it wasn't easy to research/know everything like it is now.

I actually kept a word file on Beast Wars when it aired to jot down everything I knew to try to connect it to what I remembered of G1 and the Animated movie. Granted, that only took up like 10 minutes a week but I was more into it than I should have been.

Early 30's.

First Transformer was a G1 Optimus Prime. I was spoiled rotten and had so many fucking bots as a kid and it was amazing. Only things I was ever missing was Swoop, Jetfire, and Predaking.

And then my asshole parents threw all my shit in my grandparents attic where it was swiftly fucking destroyed by the ravages of heat, cold, and time.
>>
>>5396653
Yeah I didn't have internet until BW was in to the TM2 stuff because I remember making a homestead website about transformers and i think max steel saying shit like "forget barbies and Polly pocket. Prepare for the best toys to exist"

Didn't really know how to browse then and find this animation.

I also thought James Avery voiced Primal for a very long time and would tell friends this to blow their minds.

BW was the first toyline I started to buy with My allowance and personal money, so that holds a special place.

I think the bat Optimus Primal and croc Megatron was the first toy I bought on My own.

I had a few G1 toys when I was young. I remember having Micromasters, Pretenders, and Powermaster Prime.

I had to Google James Avery. never watched Fresh Prince or any of that stuff, really. I was an odd duck and watched Taxi and Mary Tyler Moore on Nick at Night instead when all of that stuff was going down.

I definitely had a Geocities page, complete with spinning Star Wars gifs, fan fiction and roleplay chatroom logs.

I remember discovering bwtf.com when I was 14 or so and using my whole half hour to read as many reviews as possible one Saturday afternoon before my friends picked me up for band practice and then a party.

I have been into this shit for way too long.
>>

>>

I'm the other 31 year old. The first TFs I bought with my money were also BW. They were Rhinox and Terrorsaur. I remember bringing them over to my nextdoor neighbor/friend's house. He was SUPER into TFs as well but around that time he got more into playing JRPGs on his SNES instead. I remember him not caring about them at all and I was bummed. Then again, he was a couple years older.

That was actually when I knew we didn't have too much in common anymore and we drifted apart.

I was completely a nick at nite kid also. Learned to tell time by dick van dyke episodes. I also watched that TGIF stuff so I knew Uncle Phil.

Funny enough he voiced shredder which was even more of my childhood than primal.

I will always love Terrorsaur because he was my first Beast era figure. Too bad he was the starscream of the series which means little bitch.

Animated and the IDW comics (post-Furman) are both cool. Animated revived my interest (watched it a couple years late) after the Bay movies killed it. Never really bought any of the toys, though.
>>

First Tf was G1 Optimus, most recent Tf purchase was the legion class Fixit. We've come a long way.
>>
>>5396646
33.

First TF was a bootleg Jr. Optimus Prime with the cardboard trailer.

Started hardcore collecting post-Beast Machines, about early RiD. I fell in love with my Gigatron, Black Convoy, God Magnus and Fire Convoy and was ecstatic when they imported RiD over and I've kept collecting since.
>>
>>5396694
Oh yeah, Terrorsaur for me too. See >>5396684. I didn't think his show character was as cool as his toy, either. but I still love that toy. When I saw they used the mold as Strafe in that recent Walmart pack I had to have it.

I also loved the shit out of Dick Van Dyke.

I didn't know about him and Shredder, either. Obviously TMNT was my shit too (since I am of that age), so that is extra cool. I was obsessed with TMNT for a few years, but Transformers were more enduring. Liking some of the current TMNT lines tho.
>>
>>5396700
GREAT TOYS. I loved BW but always missed vehicles, and Beast Machines didn't exactly scratch the itch. I saved up so much money from allowance and odd jobs to buy RID Prime, Magnus, Scourge, the Predacon trio and the Autobot brothers. Never had RID Megatron til recently and I still haven't opened him. Saving it for a special occasion.

Needless to say, my high school girlfriend thought I was nuts for being so stoked about those toys. Whatever.

Forgot to add the first lines I actually collected as an adult was animated and classics/universe.

Got at least one of each deluxe/voyager/leader mold for animated because i love animated then and now.

I felt I had to get all the classics and shit because I thought that's what real collectors did even though i barely knew these g1 characters at all. There's some good figures I discovered, but I would totally go back and tell myself which to avoid if I could.
>>
>>5396653
>>5396659
Man I'm gonna get told to get to /vg/ but I remember just getting a computer and internet when beast wars came out. One of the first games I got was Jedi Knight. I remember discovering mods for it which was a brand new world, you know unheard of shit for my playstation. And some dude made a bunch of beast wars and g1 characters for multiplayer and I would run around one level for hours with friends playing as bw megatron with a lightsaber. A few years ago I looked that shit up hoping i could find it but all the links were broken.
>>
>>5396708
Ah, well I think we have all fallen into that at least a little in our collecting lives. I thought I was done with TFs after the movie stuff, so I sold my classics Starscream, Skywarp, Astrotrain, Rodimus, Mirage, Bumblebee and a few others. I wish I hadn't, and I wish I'd bought Sideswipe, Hound, Ironhide, Ratchet and some of the others.

Not a big deal in the end. But I am attached to those G1 characters and do really like the classics line.
>>
>>5396709
I can actually relate to that. One of my really good friends was super into modding Jedi Knight and Jedi Knight 2. He made chrome stormtroopers, Boba Fetts with Black Flag shirts and all sorts of stuff. I would have been 18 at the time. Had just moved to the big(ger) city and he was my roommate. He'd be up til 5am, just yelling into his headset playing that shit online. I kid you not, his room was knee deep in cigarette butts, cigarette packs and store brand cola cans. All he did was play that game.

I would have played it too if I knew about those Bw/G1 mods. I'd never heard of those til now. Even though my friend did make me a snake eyes skin for the game.
>>
>>5396708
I started collecting with RoTF, the complexity and some of the design atract me, then re-watched the old cartoon and started reading the wiki, just browsing names and liked a lot of characters, wich made me start with classics, only regret is overpaying for Ratchet.
>>
>>5396600
I'm 19. I grew up watching the 1986 film religiously. My parents would rent it for me every time we went to block buster. I've probably seen it about 100 times. I watched some Unicron trilogy stuff as a Kid but I always preferred what little G1 content I could find when I was younger.
>>
>>5396718
It was just multiplayer skins and you couldn't transform or anything but at the time it blew my mind because all their sounds were ripped from the show, I had some other skins like Boba Fett or whatever and they just used the same stuff as the default game but Megatron said crazy shit from the show when he got hit or killed or whatever. I was like 11 at the time and it was mindblowing. I forget what all characters there were but I know my friend liked to play as Quickstrike and the Beast Wars Ravage.
>>
>>5396732
I rented the 86 movie a billion times too.

>>5396736
I remember them just being multiplayer. Seems like that modding community was way bigger than I remember.

I can't imagine playing any online game at age 11... though I guess I found online text-based RPGs (MUDs, MUSHes, etc) around age 13.

I think I was probably just playing Stunt Race FX with my stupid friends on my SNES at age 11.

>>
